Furniture is a big purchase, and it’s something you need to think about every time before buying. You might not have any problems with your new sofa until months later when stains start appearing on the fabric or from eating food off its surface. This is why it makes sense to invest in an easy clean sofaBy following these simple steps for choosing furniture that is easy to clean now; if an accident happens during our monster TV-watching sessions (or even just spills), all I’ll be doing during future seasons of Netflix and Chill is to rest assured that I know what kind of things can be removed without much effort.
Consider Buying Leather
Leather is king for a reason: its durability and stain resistance makes it an excellent material to furnish your home with. It’s not just kids or messy mates who will love the look, as most leather upholstery becomes softer over time, which means you can enjoy years of comfort without worrying about new purchases every few seasons.
You don’t need much space because they’re so easy to maintain; simply clean them regularly to keep away dust mites from clogging pores (and making allergies worse).
The biggest con is that leather sofas are a bit less forgiving when it comes to children and or pets jumping on it, because of the fabric being less ‘boucy’ than others. Some people also don’t like the feel of leather, or don’t choose leather because of personal ethics.
If You Prefer Fabric
If you prefer the feel of fabric to leather – choose contract-grade fabric stain resistant ones that have received stain repellent treatment. Velvet is also on our list! Right now, the hot interior design trend seems to be velvet, and we’re lucky because it’s virtually impossible for stains or liquids (like wine) in these items to adhere properly when you buy the stain resistant variety.
So don’t worry about soft fabrics like cotton or linen being damaged by spills either time around; just make sure there are no rips before installing them onto surfaces where they’ll stay put all day long. That will remove the need to constantly wiping down due diligence first. Stain resistant fabrics also eliminate the need of having to spend too much time on the cleaning of sofas.
Microfibre is Another Good Option
Microfiber is a synthetic fabric that provides the same benefits as leather but at a fraction of the cost. Micro “leather” doesn’t wear down and is easy to clean up while also protecting claws with its lack of loops in traditionally weaved materials like cotton or wool (which can be caught on things).
One common complaint about microfibre is that it can be a bit of a hair magnet, so it’s not ideal for pet owners.
Consider the Floor Space Too
It isn’t just your furniture that needs cleaning; the floor space surrounding any piece also has to be tended. This includes dining tables, coffee tables, and other big heavy items on wheels so you can keep those pesky dirt particles at bay.
Buy lockable caster handles, which will ensure runaway furniture situations don’t occur again. After all, this type of equipment should only be used when necessary but is worth making sure it happens if possible.
