I’ll admit I’m fairly particular about swimwear — between finding something that actually stays put and something that doesn’t leave me tugging at it every five minutes, it’s rarely love at first fitting. So when I packed the Jo Severin Fior di Limone Bandeau for a trip to the Lake District, I wasn’t expecting to come home quite this converted.

I wore this one for a proper swim, not just a paddle at the water’s edge, and it held up brilliantly the whole time. No awkward readjusting, no worrying it might slip — the bandeau style stayed exactly in place through actual movement in the water, which is honestly the real test of any swimsuit as far as I’m concerned.

Wearing it in a size 16, the coverage was fantastic — nothing felt exposed or precarious, even climbing in and out of the water. It also did something I genuinely didn’t expect: it flattened and smoothed my stomach beautifully, without feeling restrictive or uncomfortable to actually swim in. That’s a hard balance to strike, and this one manages it.

Between the print — that gorgeous Fior di Limone lemon design is exactly the kind of statement piece that photographs beautifully against a lake backdrop — the fit, and how genuinely secure it felt in the water, this is one of those rare swimming costumes that’s both stunning and properly functional. Well worth the cost, and one I’ll be reaching for all season.
If you’re after a bandeau style that actually performs as well as it looks, this one’s earned a firm recommendation from me.
