With the shortest day of the year far behind us, and the coldest months well underway, it’s time to start looking forward to the good weather and planning how best to utilise it. You may think that it’s too early to be thinking of summer, especially when it’s still getting dark before you’re even had your tea. However, it’s never too early to start planning your summer, and the earlier you start, the more time you have to save for the pricier purchases that you desperately want. Below are three ways you can invest your money in a way that will change the way you spend your summers.
Open your doors to the outside
One of the great things about BBQ season is being able to have so many more friends and family members around to create new memories with. However, what tends to happen is that you can’t fit all the food outside, so you leave some in the kitchen or dining room for people to help themselves to. Invariably, what then happens is that you end up with two separate groups and a divide in the party. Investing in French, sliding, or bi-fold doors can really open up the area and create a larger space that doesn’t feel cut off from the outdoors. Doing this not only adds a feeling of openness to your gathering but allows you to open up your home to that warm summer breeze as the temperature begin to rise.
Outdoor heating
As the days grow longer, and the nights grow milder, it can be tempting to stay outside well into the evening. However, sometimes putting on a jumper isn’t quite enough to keep the chill at bay, yet you still don’t want to retire indoors and miss out on the beautiful night sky. There are two options to keep you warm as you enjoy the fresh air and clear summer skies. You could opt for a patio heater which, though effective, can be quite costly to run and need protecting from the elements. Alternatively, you could pick a chiminea or fire pit. Not only do they make a nice center piece for a seating area, but they help the outdoors feel by letting you hone your fire making skills. There’s something incredibly calming about staring into the fire as you converse with your friends well into the night, and they’re also great to help you enjoy being outdoors in the colder months too.
Furniture
You may already have a simple garden furniture setup, but investing in some good quality rattan or wicker furniture can make it a lot more comfortable to stay outside for longer periods of time. Obviously, you will need to consider where you will store it during the inclement weather and during long periods without use, but a good quality waterproof cover should keep it in good condition through most of what nature can throw at it. You could even choose curved benches which you could place around your fire pit to provide enough seating for everyone to enjoy the warmth.
There you have it, three reasons to start planning and saving for the summer now. It may seem like a long way off, but it’ll be here before you know it, and with these purchases, you’ll be inviting everyone around to your home on the weekends.
XOXO

For those who prefer a more traditional home-like experience when on vacation, a timeshare can make sense. If you’ve gotten many years of good use out of your timeshare and now want to get rid of it, a timeshare cancellation company like Timeshare Freedom Group or Lonestar transfer may be able to help.
