I love a good list and what better than a whole host of fabulous things to do this summer as a family! We have a huge list of things we want to do this year but here are our top 5!
Number 1. Visit new places.
We have already been to Life in Newcastle, twice this year but really want to go back and see some of the exciting exhibits they have later in the year. I recently won a weekend holiday to the Cotswolds for the family so we are looking forward to spending time exploring new villages and generally spending some time together on ‘holiday’. I also won a 3 day beach yoga break so looking forward to spending some time relaxing and visiting the beautiful island of Majorca again.
Number 2. Try new foods.
I really would like to make a list of fabulous places to eat in and around Durham so have started to search out some of the smaller establishments that might be overlooked. The good thing with doing a project like this is you get to try awesome food you wouldn’t normally create at home, Ethan even tried calamari on a recent visit to La Tasca and although I don’t like spice I opted for the Spicy King Prawn Linguine at Zizzi. We recently had our first freakshakes too which has paved the way for wanting to try more of those too!
Number 3. Be Outdoors.
Hubby loves camping and its something I remember fondly from being small. There’s nothing like the thrill of sleeping outdoors and having to do that early morning tip toe run to the shower block! I’m sure everything has changed now and I really do think its something all kids should do so we want to try and start camping this year while the kids are young enough to enjoy the freedom of the great outdoors!
Number 4. Go Swimming.
In the local baths, in the river, at the beach and in the sea! Anywhere and everywhere, ankle deep and splashing around or so deep momma cant touch the bottom (I’m 5ft short so regular depth for normal people!) lol We love water and everything from scouring rock pools and sitting dipping our toes in water while playing pooh sticks to making castles with moats and splashing in the sea, summer is all about having a beach body no matter what your body so I will be donning my cossie and going for it!
Number 5. BBQs
From those little disposable ones on the beach and at the park to community ones with lots of fabulous friends, we plan on having lots of delicious charcoal infused meals this summer. Nothing beats eating al fresco and somehow salads always taste nicer eating in the sunshine!

Do you have plans for the summer? What’s on your list?
XOXO
Debbie
