Have you ever been out in the car with your sister or girlfriend and pretended you are Thelma & Louise?
I don’t mean the murder and driving off the cliff, that is a little excessive, I just mean the whole girl bonding on a road trip – seeing sights you wouldn’t normally, doing things you would be scared to do at home and generally enjoying the heck out of life!
My little sister has no children so is the complete opposite to me (you know, the one with 6 kids!) so when we get together I get to live vicariously through her. Don’t get me wrong I adore my children but full 24/7 with the girls at home school mean that when I do get a chance to be child free I want to make the most of it. We have often spoken about doing the full Route 66 with the top down but that would take way longer than I am willing to commit right now (at least until the kids all move out!) so I have been thinking of alternatives closer to home and have been planning our perfect European Road Trip!

All of this is quite ironic since I don’t even drive so would have to rely on little sis to do the majority of the work! Thankfully she has a brand new car with not too many miles on the clock and a quick check up at Kwik Fit to make sure it is ready for our adventure around Europe would be all that is needed. I still dither over whether we would actually rock up to some random motel with flickering letters and take our chance with Norman Bates (maybe I have seen too many horror movies!) or plan our stay ahead of schedule. The only issue with that is that there is no wiggle room if you discover somewhere you want to stay for more than the allocated time – I’m more a seat of the pants traveler and hate having to move on if I feel I haven’t experienced everything I want to! lol

One of the road trips I would love to do is drive the Amalfi Coast, I just adore Italy and the beautiful architecture. It always looks as though the sun is shining there too and everyone seems so elegant…and lets be honest, I literally can’t wait to try authentic Italian Pasta! All of those stunning white building against the deep blue of the sea, ladies in over size sun glasses and the cooling feel of freshly made gellatto while sitting on the beach, taking a break from driving!
*Sigh*
If you are reading this sis and you’re up for it just give me the nod, my sunglasses and headscarf in hand – I’m ready to go 😉
XOXO
Debbie

Oh yes the Amalfi coast is absolutely stunning! I remember visiting there as a teenager and it is certainly somewhere I’d like to return to 🙂
