Needlite is a small Danish set up which entered the Nordic market in 2015 with desk lamps of their own design and invention. The idea was simple: provide as much efficient work light and provide much needed daylight at the same time. Knowing there were other providers in this field they wanted to show that daylight lamps not only need to be practical but can be beautifully designed, clearly thought out solution to adjustable no-glare daylight. They are also iPhone compatible meaning the lamps can be user controlled as well as providing feedback on light consumption and usage.
We started with the Nordic countries based on the obvious lack of daylight here during the winter, but the rest of northern Europe including UK is also highly relevant on that note. And as mentioned in the presentation: All over the industrialized world people are spending more than 23 hours indoors per day on average – and that is all year round. And those 23 hours are spent in poor lighting.

The lack of daylight has a severe impact on our performance: energy, mood, digestion, sleep, recovery from illness etc. All factors are influenced by daylight – or the lack of it. But as for so many other effects and implication of modern lifestyle we either do not notice or simply neglect the effects.
One thing I found amazing and ideal for my profession was that Needlite is highly suitable as work light for photographers, bloggers etc which means that when it comes to photographing the products I am sent I need not worry about the lacking sunshine come Autumn/Winter, I can just pop on the Needlites and carry on! Needlite has the exact right color temperature of 6,500 kelvin and is not reflecting in the screen or in the way when editing.
Since living by myself I find that I am heading to bed earlier, not just to go to sleep but to keep up with work it is easier to head up to my desk when the children are in bed and carry on work up there instead of on the laptop on my knee. Of course, because the nights are drawing in I need additional light and Needlite have provided this, I can carry on working until the small hours and not worry about eye strain or falling behind on work simply because of the awful daylight!

I was kindly sent the lights for the purpose of this review. All views and opinions are my own and genuine.
