Thankfully our girls love being in the kitchen as much as I do so when we were gifted the new Ella’s Kitchen – The Easy Family Cookbook we were excited for what would be included. Especially as it is catering to getting the children involved in making their own foods.
I often find that if the girls help me make lunch, dinner etc they are more inclined to eat their meals. Alongside savoury food the girls have a real love of making sweet things, cakes, biscuits, you name it they love it and they are often fresh out of the oven when they start tucking into them!
We picked a simple one to start with from the cookbook – Fruity Iceberg Bites! They look delicious and after a little bit of compromise with the girls (they aren’t keen on coconut!) we decided to adapt and miss out the bits that they girls weren’t happy with. That’s what cooking is all about isn’t it – adapting to your own tastes!
After gathering all of our ingredients we set about mixing them together when the girls had the idea of making them into shapes via our ice cube trays!
We filled fish and hearts before popping them in the freezer for 30 minutes to set. Once out of the freezer and decanted onto a plate they didn’t take long at all to be devoured – a huge success! The girls are so looking forward to making more from the big Orange Book!
Thank you Ella’s Kitchen!
XOXO

These are so much fun and easy to do! I’ve made my daughter frozen yogurt drops before, but not different shapes. Must give this a go!
I love Ella’s kitchen and the fruity iceberg melts sound delicious I really need to be more organised with my little one has he refuses to eat anything except say sausages these days xxx
This sounds great. I will be trying it. We are fans of Ella’s Kitchen.
