We decided to take a little trip this past weekend and to be honest although it was only a 2 night stay, it was exactly what we needed.
Redcar is only 45 minutes away so we decided to holiday on the doorstep this year. What with rail strikes, flight problems and general problems in every corner of the universe it seemed sensible to enjoy exactly what we have right here.

The girls were so excited just to be going away. To be honest, me too! It breaks routine, without the overhanging chores to finish, jobs to work on and housework needing to be done.
We spend all weekend pretty much either on the beach or in the arcades. I can remember holidaying in the UK with my parents and sisters when I was younger and we were monsters on the grab/claw machines! The back shelf of the car would be piled high every time we returned from our holidays!

The girls have never really had much experience with arcades except flying through them to hit the beach at South Shields etc. In which cases its usually trying to keep blinkers on them until we get out the other side. Now though they had coins in their hands and were ready to use them. I can remember Nana giving us bags of 2p before leaving for our jollies so I did the same with the girls.

After a slight obsession with the Baby Yoda machine we won 3 – one each for the girls and one for Auntie Lisa. I managed to win one dinosaur and so did Amelia too so my Jurassic Park heart was happy!

The food was amazing as we hit Charlies Fish & Chip restaurant for lunch and then One Up for dinner. We hit the beach after both and stayed out until late dodging waves and collecting shells.

We stayed in a B&B which was pretty much on the seafront so a little noisy on a night but I think that adds to the whole holiday feel. The girls slept like logs after a full day of fun on Saturday and we promised we would return soon!
