“It is not true we have only one life to love, if we can read, we can live as many lives and as many kinds of lives as we wish.”
― S.I. Hayakawa
Reading is one of the pastimes I am determined to pick up again this year. All too often I climb into bed and switch on the TV when I could just as easily pick up a good book. There is something completely freeing about getting totally sucked into a book, losing yourself in the lives of others and escaping your problems, even if it is just for a little while!
I have started Book Club 52 as a base for me to document the books I will read over the course of the next 12 months, 52 meaning the amount of books and of course that works out at 1 a week – eek! A tall order but something I really hope I can keep up with.

Title. After I’ve Gone
Author. Linda Green
Read. Via Kindle for iPhone (£1.99 kindle, £4 paperback)
You have 18 months left to live . . . On a wet Monday in January, Jess Mount checks Facebook and discovers her timeline appears to have skipped forward 18 months, to a day when shocked family and friends are posting heartbreaking tributes to her following her death in an accident. Jess is left scared and confused: is she the target of a cruel online prank or is this a terrifying glimpse of her true fate?
Amongst the posts are photos of a gorgeous son she has not yet conceived. But when new posts suggest her death was deliberate, Jess realises that if she changes the future to save her own life, the baby boy she has fallen in love with may never exist. (synopsis from Amazon)
My Thoughts: ***Spoilers
Being a total social media addict I loved the concept of this book, how terrifying would it be to wake up and discover your future laid out on Facebook. Thankfully the book was an easy read and I got through it in 3 nights, the characters are likable but you could tell what was going to happen which was a little frustrating at times. It really did make me wonder that what with the surge in ‘girl power’ and feminism would the title character really go ahead with an abusive relationship knowing what was in store? Overall a quick and easy read to start with and I look forward to trying more of the Linda Green books.

Please join me by linking up below with any amount of books you work your way through each month.
I will be popping up a new link on the first Book Club 52 post each month, each week after that I will be directing you back to the link so that we can keep track of them all in one place, this way whether you read 1 book a month or 10 you can add them to the same post each time.
Comment on each weeks post to let me know how you are doing and to direct us back to your blog to comment on your commitment to the book club.
Happy Reading!

This is such a great idea and I’d love to join in!! I’m currently reading Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet by Jamie Ford. Not sure I’ll be able to read a book a week this year but I think I can come close. I’ll definitely be adding After I’ve Gone to my book list…it sounds really riveting. Thanks for the reading inspiration. I’m excited for what the year will hold!!
Reading is something I used to enjoy lots but now I am often traveling or blogging that I have lost my first love. I need to get back into reading too. Good luck with your book club
