Did you know the average woman will use over 10,500 sanitary products and spend over £18,000 in her lifetime on period wear! Of course there will be reasons why this could be more or less but isn’t that a shocking thought. Something we all have to face regardless whether we want to or not is costing us a fortune each year.
Of course then there are the environmental issues to face. I have spoken in the past about how we are trying to make eco friendly changes.
Having two daughters, ages 6 and 10, who will be getting their monthly cycle at some point is a terrifying thought, let alone the health implications of the plastics and toxins that are in regular monthly products! No one knows the long term effects these have on the human body yet, for example problems such as TSS (Toxic Shock Syndrome). Also when dioxin (an ingredient in regular sanitary products) accumulates in the body it can cause serious health risks and diseases such as immune system damage, diabetes, hormone dysfunction, pelvic inflammatory disease, ovarian cancer and others.
Yoppie got in touch to see if I would be interested in trying their certified organic and cruelty free sanitary products. By using waterproof backings which are biodegradable and compostable this eliminates the need for plastic.
Both hypoallergenic and unscented, Yoppie pads and liners are made with breathable, certified organic cotton that has been purified without chlorine and grown without using pesticides or herbicides.
Yoppie have organic cotton period subscription boxes which are a godsend as I am always being caught short each month. You would think I should know by now, at 45, that my monthly is never on time and will always strike when I least expect it! I love that a box of tampons contains 3 different flow strengths, we are all different and I tend to have a light flow for a day, heavy for 2 days then finish with one more light day. A standard store bought box of either regular or super flow just won’t work for me, I need a mix of sizes.
All parcels fit through the letterbox so no need to be around to sign for them and all packaging is eco friendly and recyclable too. You can choose to receive a parcel every 4 or 12 weeks.
I was kindly gifted these items in return for an honest review, all views and opinions are my own and genuine.
For those who prefer a more traditional home-like experience when on vacation, a timeshare can make sense. If you’ve gotten many years of good use out of your timeshare and now want to get rid of it, a timeshare cancellation company like Timeshare Freedom Group or Lonestar transfer may be able to help.
