Creating a list of things I am loving right now is something I have wanted to do for a while. I guess this is a good a time as any to start as I have a lot of things that I am grateful for right now. There are new discoveries and also some bits that have become staples in my life. Things that I really can’t imagine doing without.
I don’t just mean products. I’m talking places, people, programmes etc so thought that compiling them all into one blog post might be something fun to look back on. I also wanted to create a diary of skincare etc that works right now.
For some reason my skin seemed to have turned into a complete sponge during April. I’m not sure if it was the sunny spell we had that dried it out but it needed so much moisturiser before it was satisfied! I even had to switch to using both a serum and moisturiser together.
I have worked with Angela Langford in the past with regards to her Rest & Regenerate Skincare so jumped at the chance to try her Bloom & Glow radiance restoring face oil. Containing chia seed and sea buckthorn are blended together to deliver high levels of essential fatty acids, vitamins & antioxidants. It improves skin’s elasticity, calms inflammation & restores radiance.
I add a couple of drops to my morning moisturiser and it has made such a difference to my skin. I no longer feel like my skin is crying out for help. It doesn’t look dry and flaky when I take my make up off at the end of the day now either. Night time involves using just my moisturiser alone as I feel the oil is doing a good enough job once a day now during a deep sleep.
I am a complete sucker for those foot masks that make skin flake off like in some kind of deranged horror movie! Yes, I am that person who can’t leave it alone either and will pick until its all gone, which of course means I don’t ever get the full effect either as its gone too quickly!
These socks from Footner are ones that you pop on and leave for half an hour. It is a good excuse to sit and do nothing, catch up on a favourite programme or just chill out while they work their magic. I was impressed with how smooth they made my feet feel but disappointed that it left dry skin on my heels. Having used a much stronger one in the past that peeled beyond belief. I think I prefer this one though as I wasn’t left with sensitivity at all.
In a bid to cut down on bottles of fragrance I recently discovered the joy of a solid perfume. The fact it is not even a perfume but an aftershave makes it appeal even more to me. I love the heady scent of a lot of aftershaves but find when they are in liquid form the smell is just too much for me to wear.
Solid Cologne UK have released slider tins of fragrance that contain 18ml of beeswax and shea butter based, scented cologne. I opted for the Sikandar fragrance as it is a spicy and warm sandalwood mix that seems to intensify with body heat. These little tins are perfect for popping into a pocket or handbag and weigh the same as a lip balm or pack of mints! Prices start at just £14.
My first book kept popping up on my Instagram stories line from the lovely Mel from Le Coin De Mel blog. Miracle Morning is by Hal Elrod who believes the 6 habits he details in the book will transform your life before 8am! I am about half way through and I have to say that I think there is something in it!
Now that I am getting to grips with it I can really see the appeal in getting up a couple of hours earlier each morning to dedicate time to starting the day off well. Starting with a little meditation, reading and just taking time out to breathe!
Becoming Michelle Obama was a gift from the kids for Mothers Day and although only a few pages in I am loving it already. The whole family was such an inspiration when in the white house and I love their ethos behind how you treat those you love. Such a down to earth family, I can’t wait to find out more about how this woman became the force behind one of the most powerful men in the world.
Right now I feel more confident that I ever have and I think that is due to a mind shift of not needing acceptance from anyone. On a whole though I feel like I am missing the routine that a Slimming World way of eating gives me. I enjoyed creating the recipes and eating fresh. When I don’t follow the plan we tend to live off take away or partial ready meal food. Not a good way to live in the long run so I am going back to the way I know works for me.
After receiving 6 jars of honey for a project with TalktoMums I have been trying to figure out how else we can use them other than on toast or porridge. One of the girls suggested having lemon & honey water and upon looking up the benefits I have been having a cup of hot water with both in first thing on a morning. It is so refreshing and it is cutting out some of the caffeine in my diet so that has to be a good thing.
I am around 8 episodes into the first season of Bloodline and I love it so far. The story is based around the Rayburn family who are an upstanding Florida family. The father dies and secrets start to unravel the lives they all thought they knew. One brother is trouble and you can just tell there are going to be some lives ruined before the season is over.
One of my favourites is Line of Duty, now that season 5 has just finished I have to wait (along with the rest of Twitter!) to see just where this one will take us. I really thought we would have answers at the end of season 5 but it has lined up the next season perfectly. I just know I am not the only one who can’t wait for the return of Kate and Steve!
Hidden messages on Method bottles – did you know they were there?! Me either! Now I do though you would be right in thinking I’m checking before I buy in future! lol
XOXO
