Some days I find myself pacing back and forth to different tasks, trying to complete everything as fast as I can. I would forget to take breaks and by the end of the day, I would become too tired and stressed out to even sleep. I believe many of us workingadults have experienced a hectic work life like that and want a change.
Practicing mindfulness helped me to live more peacefully, while dealing with challenges. If we do not take care of our mindfulness, we can face issues down the line. Whilst there is no shame in needing help in this, be it from the Honey Lake residential facilities or any other resource available, being mindful can potentially improve quality of life before it reaches this point. When the mind is healthy, it helps us to reflect better and our body can function better too. There’s plenty of opportunity for us to practice mindfulness every day and you can find the opportunities from your daily routines. But, what is mindfulness and how do we start practicing?
What Is Mindfulness?
Mindfulness is all about pausing, focusing and reflecting on our actions. Do you have a busy life with no time to pause? Is your busy schedule affecting your mental health? Well, sometimes we need to stop and breathe. Especially on tough days, where youfeel frustrated and impatient, causing you to react in ways you don’t intend to. Moments like that should be a sign to take a pause and take a few breaths.
How To Practice Mindfulness?
In this article, I will be sharing some tips on how to practice and improve mindfulness. The goal is to get our day to be more in line and have a better expectation of your day. Mindfulness should begin at the moment you wake up from your bed. Here’s why:
Start Your Day With A Purpose
When you wake up, choose a space that you are comfortable in to sit or lay at. It can be on the carpet, on the chair, or even just laying on the bed. Take a moment to do some breathing exercise or even meditate if you prefer that. Starting your day with breathing exercise can help to relax the mind and the body. It’s a great activity to do before you start your day.
Next, set yourself a goal. It can be a big goal or a small goal, it doesn’t matter. As long as it’s a goal, it can serve as a source of motivation to get yourself through the day. Don’t forget to reward yourself after achieving the goal. If it’s an achievement, it’s worth a reward! Rewards are great because it can keep you motivated to do better the next day, and the next day, and so on. It can also make your day better!
Don’t Forget To Take A Pause On Busy Days
Taking a break means taking care of your body. Don’t forget to pause when things get too overwhelming to deal with. Carrying on when you’re stressed out can sometimes spiral down your emotions more. Watch out for moments where you think you need a break and pause to breath!
Pausing can sometimes mean taking the time to exercise, to relax, or even just to focus on a hobby. Find an activity that works for you and interests you. Putting all your focus on a task that you enjoy is also a way to practice mindfulness! I like to knit during my free time because it’s therapeutic, keeps my mind going, and it gives my mind some peace.
Another way to practice mindfulness is to take a breath before any challenging tasks. Taking a break can send signals to your body and mind that you’re about to start working on a task. It’s a good way to tell yourself that it’s time to focus too!
Being mindful doesn’t just happen within a day. It takes practice and determination. Start now and you’ll be able to see your days brighter and more peaceful!
