Being a single woman in the 21st century is a pretty scary thing! I have always had someone to rely on and rightly or wrongly I have always felt more protected with a man around the house. Now that I am going it alone I need to suck it up and be a big girl about all things around the home, everything from DIY to making sure my home is secure.
Maplin asked me to review the Lorex 2 Camera 4 Channel Wireless CCTV Kit with 7 inch Wireless Viewing Tablet and I have to admit to letting out a little sigh of relief. The peace of mind knowing that security cameras pointing at both the front and back of the house might just be enough of a deterrent to put someone off breaking in or vandalising something I am working hard to build up here.
This Lorex kit comes with 2 cameras and a 7 inch wireless viewing tablet meaning that there was minimum drilling and wiring needed to set up the whole system. I can view both live and recorded footage which means that when the children are playing out I can keep an eye on them by taking the tablet with me to different rooms and I can also watch night footage the morning after to see if there was an extra nocturnal activity in the gardens.
The wireless cameras also feature a built-in microphone and speakers, allowing you to use your security system as an intercom. You can record audio alongside your video for the full picture and also communicate with people near your camera using the included monitor or through the app on your smart device. Whether you are telling your delivery driver to leave the package in a safe place or telling your kids that the house key is under doormat, you can do so with ease.
After position in both the kitchen and bedroom overlooking the front and back of the house they were super easy to put up. 2 small drill holes in both places and after being plugged in they were good to go with clear images and peace of mind! I love the fact anyone can install these and they don’t require an engineer to come out to the house.
I have the tablet beside my bed so that on a night i can see if anyone accesses the gardens, the range isn’t huge but neither are the gardens so it works sufficiently for what i need. The daytime images are crystal clear and its good to know that after installing an HD card i can record visitors whilst i am out and monitor activity around my home.
Available from Maplin RRP: £309.99.

For those who prefer a more traditional home-like experience when on vacation, a timeshare can make sense. If you’ve gotten many years of good use out of your timeshare and now want to get rid of it, a timeshare cancellation company like Timeshare Freedom Group or Lonestar transfer may be able to help.
