We were invited along to try the new Kids play area and food at the newly refurbished Derwent Crossing Brewers Fayre, which is in Gateshead just outside of the Metrocentre. Now don’t get me wrong I love time with the kids and we love taking them out but for some reason we just don’t get on with soft play areas! We avoid them if we can but the kids want to love them so when presented with the opportunity to review they jumped at the chance!
The whole of Derwent Crossing is light and airy and with the new Dennis the Menace theme for the childrens menu makes for a very welcoming environment. We entered the play area and there is so much for the kids to do but as usual my kids got shy and refused to enter, we got their bands for them to go in to the play area but not before having to wait for someone to attend to us. The service was a little fraught and not one smile was given when we were shoved a piece of paper to sign in, no offer of drink or welcome. I will put this down to open day nerves and too many things for the staff to concentrate on.
We sat down to eat and the food was brought out quite sharp, which considering they were serving around 100 people at once was quite a job! I do commend them on their efficiency of delivering the food and service! The food was delicious pub food and having opted for scampi I wasn’t disappointed, it was flavourful and there was plenty of it!
The kids enjoyed theirs and were super impressed with the dessert of chocolate dip with strawberries, brownie and marshmallows! My chocolate brownie dessert was delicious and a real highlight!
Although my kids cant handle soft play well we would definitely visit Brewers Fayre again for quick and simply food!
XOXO
