This is going to be a kind of bucket list of things I would like to do over July and August. Things I would like to achieve in the garden over the next 2 months.
We have made huge leaps on the garden front this past couple of months much to our delight. For the past 3 years I have wanted to love gardening, trying my hand at potting plants and garden beds but it just wasn’t happening. Since lockdown started, spending so much time in one space made me realise that if I didn’t get going it would be looking the same in another 3 years! Now it looks like this and I couldn’t be happier. This has to be my favourite view of the garden.

Thankfully I have a lovely neighbour who moved in a couple of months ago who is a gardener. After talking over the fact I just wanted a blank canvas and the ground levelling he made it happen in one day.

There is still the top section to be gravelled and high trellis to be placed along the back fencing. It is a weird little section that separates the gardens thanks to the giant trees so a kind of no mans land. I was thinking high trellis with planters, growing climbing plants so that it ends the garden properly.

The girls are loving that we have an outside seating area now and have even taken to camping out there when its cold with cushions and blankets. The furniture was so easy to build and the bbq is one that was a fraction of the price of the one I wanted. We have had lots of eating outdoors while the weather has been good – making the most of the sunshine.

Another favourite of the girls is the run we made for the rabbits. While the girls were at their dads we made a pink faux grass run for Daisy and Lily. I knew the girls would love something other than green grass and to be honest as soon as I saw the pink it was a no brainer!

We even had enough left to ‘carpet’ the top of the climbing frame which has made it the ideal place for picnics etc. We added lights to the framework too and I would really love to paint the whole frame and add in some hanging decorations and planters for the girls to tend their own strawberries etc.

The lights are another addition that we all love. As I mentioned above we have added fairy lights around the climbing frame and we have also added the solar small ones to each pot heading up the pathway. It creates a lovely soft light especially around the cluster at the start of the path. Ideally we want them up both sides of the path along with more fairy lights over the pergola, once built.

So, in summary for July:
Gravel the rest of the garden
Add trellis and pots with climbing plants at the rear of the garden
Paint the climbing frame, clear underneath and decorate with planters etc
Empty the playhouse and redo the inside
Get rid of the trampoline with a view to getting a bigger one
Pots up the other side of the path
Plan and possibly start the pergola
Not much to do then! lol Oh the joys, lets just hope the great British weather plays ball. Bring on the sunshine!
What are your plans for the rest of the summer?
