This weather is glorious isn’t it and I bet there have never been so many BBQs in the UK as there has been this past month! I love nothing more than having a selection of grilled goodies alongside a fruitful wine and fabulous friends. I have put together a few of my favourite wines that work well with BBQs from grilled king prawns and minted lamb chops to baked bananas and smores!
First up is this fruity little number from Dark Horse Rose, a blushing wine with flavours of strawberry, raspberry and citrus this is the ideal refreshing wine for any rose lover! Most bottles of Rosé are imported or created as small batch offerings, that means a premium price tag. Fortunately, Dark Horse winemaker, Beth Liston, decided to take summer by the grapes and create a fruit-forward, Provence-style Rosé that pairs perfectly with sunshine and backyard budgets. rrp: £8.50 available nationwide
Next up is a gold medal winner from Provence, Mirabeau en Provence is a deliciously light rose that screams lazy summer nights. This is literally one of those wines that everyone will love, the raspberry pink hue and redcurrant notes bring this crisp wine to the top of my wine must have list. I love that the company is a family run business and that comes through in the whole ethos, take a look at the website and tell me you wouldn’t love to live that life too! rrp: £7.99 available from Waitrose
Everyone loves a supersize – generally you would think food though when you hear those words. When I heard there was a new supersize wine, Lez’ Arts from Marrenon, a producer from Luberon in Southern France which is provided in a magnum format my heart skipped a beat! Not only is it a whopper of a bottle it doesn’t have a price to match, in fact it is very affordable at £24.99 and really does give that WOW factor when given as a gift (honestly it is huge!) I is a delicious wine that works well with white meat and BBQs! Available from Majestic at £19.99 if you buy 6 or more.
