If we thought 2016 flew over that still didn’t prepare us for how quickly Christmas day and Boxing day would come and go! I seem to have blinked, lit a few candles, eaten my body weight in chocolate and we are now 3 days after the big event!
The build up is one of the things I look forward to so much all year and beginning on the 1st of December everything propels you towards the 25th, then before you know it its come and gone in a flash! Thankfully this year I remembered to have my phone on hand to grab some quick pictures, granted I didn’t take many but what I did are the ones that mean the most – the look of the kids as they opened their presents, family time and of course the aftermath of all that pressie opening!
Christmas eve we all did our usual and jumped in the bath closely followed by assembling to watch a Christmas movie in our matching pjs! This is definitely a new tradition we will be following every year – the kids thought it was great and I have to admit both myself and hubby loved it more than a little bit! These pjs were from Home Bargains and ranging from £3.99 to £7.99 were well worth it as they are so cosy and fleecy that I can see us wearing these all year! lol
At around 6.30am on Christmas morning we all assembled at the top of the stairs ready for daddy to head down and see if Santa had been, this was after me being awake from 5.30 talking to my sister via messenger as she was the only one awake in their house too! Of course, Santa had been and boy was there carnage within an hour or so – there was literally no floor to see!
Amelia was over joyed with her light up flashing tooth brush! Go Figure lol
I was a very lucky blogger mummy with my Unmumsy book, Louise Pentlands dvd, Wonderwoman Pjs (which, after today was declared a pj day, are being worn right now), Starbucks mugs (please tell me I’m not the only one to have a Starbucks mug obsession and Solitaire (I’ve loved this game since i was little and have had many versions over the years, usually losing a marble or two over time – that is the story of my life! ha!
Boxing day was spent at my sisters as mum and my youngest sister were there for Christmas too so it was a full on family affair!
The kids get on so well and they all played great together, with everything from table football to Gas Out – now this is one game we looked at and Evie declared ‘disgusting’ – it is after all fart noises and shes a real girly girl so finds anything like that ‘rank’ (boys words not mine) and we disregarded it as one of the Christmas pressies this year. HOWEVER after playing it they now all want it! lol Who knew a fart machine would be the game of choice! lol
Now, 3 days after Christmas the kids are still finding and opening toys they didnt realise they received (I have to admit to parcelling them up and packing them up their rooms just so we could sit down so a lot were at the bottom of a big pile!) Amelia has spent all day playing with her Number Lovin Oven from Leapfrog – I have looked at these so many times in the past but have never bought any for some reason….now though i am a total Leapfrog convert and can see me having a long list of things for her birthday come May!
I hope you had a fun Christmas and aren’t too lost with your days between the 25th and New Year – I keep having to check the sky box to see what day it is – I’m sure its not just me!
XOXO
Debbie
