Each month I am sent items to trial, I pick up bits in shops that I want to tell you about and people message me to say they have found things and would I like to spread the word! I am going to start and do a fabulous finds and flops post each month detailing some of the bits I have come across either on the internet or actually had in my hands to try – in which case I can even give a little review of said items and maybe help someone make up their minds whether to purchase or not…..it wont always be good as i have had some disappointing goods lately so either way I will let you know!
First up this month was a bottle of Simply Argan I was sent to trial back in July. I had held off using this as I don’t like switching my skincare routines too often and just got into the swing of a new set of cleansers etc and didn’t want to disrupt things.
Having now used it I can safely say I love it for my hair and skin just not on my face! Anything that feels oily just isn’t for me, I have been down this route too many times now to know what I like and don’t like and although it does sink in it just doesn’t do it quick enough for me! Highly recommended for keeping hair glossy and I have noticed my nails are a lot stronger than they were before I started using it so something has to be working!
I’m 42. I have 6 children. I don’t have a single grey hair. You know there has to be a reason right?! lol I have dyed my hair for as long as I can remember. Starting when I was late teens I went for bleach blonde, just like anyone in the 80s…big perm and bleach blonde, backcombed to infinity and LOTS of Insette hairspray! (wow that brings back memories!) Fast foward a few years and after having children who are adorned with the most beautiful deep brown eyes and dark hair I was always asked if they were mine! How rude!! Black hair dye became my friend and for the past 15 or so years I have kept it dark – the roots are a nightmare so I need something that isn’t too harsh on my hair or scalp as I have to do them every couple of weeks.
When I was asked if I would like to try Tints of Nature hair colour, who use maximum ethical products in their colours and minimum chemicals. I have to say this was delightful to use, some dyes I have used really sting the eyes when waiting for the colour to develop, this had a light floral scent which wasn’t offensive in the slightest. The colour did not stain my skin either which is usually a huge problem as I end up with a permanent fringe of black dye around my forehead and ears!
Everyone knows I love my stationery, there isn’t a Paperchase in the area that hasn’t been blitzed! When Toad Diaries offered to send me their new concept Blogger Diary I jumped at the chance and I LOVE IT! There are plenty of spaces for blog stats and each double page is set out with a space for top priority goals at the top followed by a list of things you need to complete that day!
The opposite page is for notes and creativity but in dot format which is ideal for doodles or bullet points, I started using this in place of my bullet journal and its nice to have a space to doodle.
Our love of sushi is almost as prolific as my love of stationery! The kids have always loved it too which is a huge bonus when we go out to eat as it means we can frequent the likes of Yo Sushi without worry that the kids will starve! lol We were kindly sent the Yutaka Sushi Kit for 2 to make our own and although I need a little work with the rice they weren’t too bad at all!
The kids loved making their own lunch and to have something like sushi homemade is a bit of a treat so worth the mess they make in the process! The kit can be picked up from Amazon for £3.99.
If you love being in the kitchen and finding ways to make life easier then you definitely need to head on over to Dreamfarm – even their tag line is Where ideas grow! For someone who is always baking and cooking this company makes ideal little time savers and you will get lost in their website looking at one thing after another that you really didn’t know you needed but don’t know how you can live without! lol I was kindly sent the Levups which are ‘level scraping measuring cups’ WTF?! How did I even manage to do things before these arrived!
Ingenious cups with a little scraper that is simply pushed across the top with your thumb so that everything is done with one hand! No more unnecessary dirty tools either as I always used either a knife or wooden spoon handle to level off my measuring cups! We also got to try the Mini Supoon, ‘a mini sit up scraping spoon’…you haven’t cleaned out a jar of Nutella or Pesto until you have done it with a Supoon!
This cute little long handled spoon also sits so that the ‘scoop’ doesn’t touch your worktop either!
Coming next month in my September Fabulous Finds and Flops is more skincare and a couple of new pieces of make up, a new laundry item and some edibles (…or rather inedibles!) What have you tried out this month, anything you would recommend or tell us to avoid?
XOXO
Debbie
