Picking up bargains has to be one of my favourite hobbies, car boot sales, charity shops, rummaging through the shelves and stacks of useless tat to find that one thing you know is a little gem amongst the rubbish!
I had to pop to our local shops for bread today so thought on the off chance I would call into the 2 charity shops and see what they had to offer. Bearing in mind these are out of town charity shops so the turnover isn’t great and I have yet to discover a great find. For some reason I had a good feeling about today!
In the first shop I managed to pick up a deep glass fruit bowl, gravy boat, ceramic piggy bank (which reminds me of one mum use to have when I was growing up) and a set of 6 Denby soup bowls with lids.
A set of Moroccan style drawers (I once paid 30.00+ for a similar set in Pier 1), a Laura Ashley lampshade and amazingly a immaculate tagine! We have seen these on many occasions in Lakeland etc all priced 25.00+. As soon as I saw it I knew it was mine and when I saw the price tag of 3.50 I jumped for the shelf! Total spend in shop one was 20.50!
Heading down to the second shop with a smug grin on my face I wasn’t optimistic, thinking that all the goodies must have been dropped at shop one! Walking in there wasn’t much to catch the eye so i headed over to the fabric/curtains etc to see if there was anything worth buying to use on another project….that’s when I spotted them!
Floral heavy weight curtains! NO PRICE TAG! UH OH!
I was already planning which room to hang them in and panic started to set in when I held them up and mentioned they had no price tag.
“err give us 2 quid”
Cue hyperventilating and ooh look there’s a pretty jug too give me that as well!
Total spend in shop two 4.00!
When I got home I looked inside the bundle of curtains and found a Laura Ashley tag! BONUS!
Seriously have the charity shop thrills again and off to town tomorrow to see what treasures those ones hold!
Have you picked up any bargains lately?
XOXO
Debbie
