After walking around in the almost 80 degree sunshine it was quite the shock to come home to pretty much zero! I swear I was actually losing my temper trying to get warm in bed – take me back to the heat of Mississippi -even in February!

Thanks to half term I got to spend a week with my other half over in the good old US of A. Deep in the south where everyone calls you ‘Maam’ and tells you how much they appreciate you. Where they tell you to have a good day and are generally all round just, as they would say, Good People!

As I had Amelia with me in November, we got to do all the things we couldn’t last time. Bourbon Street, eating in places other than McDonalds (she tried new things but was quite picky) etc. I got to try fried green tomatoes, which is something I have wanted to do since the movie and that came out in 1991! Holy cow, so only been craving them for 33 years lol

Joel ordered an alligator po-boy and I got the shrimp, of course I had a little try of his but meh, don’t think it is something I would order myself. For some reason I couldn’t get past the whole ‘this is what I’m eating’ vibe! I did however also try frogs legs and did like those, again though not sure they are something I would order again in a hurry.

We spent all day Friday and Saturday wandering around Gulfport beach and New Orleans. Lunch was at Shaggys which is just the perfect spot for a beach lover like me – honestly it was the most dreamy setting ever. This is where we tried the fried green tomatoes. We also had fried pickles and I chose coconut shrimp, Joel had the seafood platter. One Biloxi Blues cocktail later and I was hunting for a container to bring some of the sand back home (my witchy vibes were calling out!)

Saturday we walked to the Buckner Mansion, which is the setting for American Horror Story Coven. My absolute favourite series from the AHS rundown. There were renovations taking place so a few bits of scaffolding and tarps but there was no mistaking the beauty of the home.

What I love is that each house has its own unique character. There are no block brick terrace houses and they all stand beautifully against the clear blue sky backdrop. Yes I romanticised the whole thing but I’m actually living my dream right now.

I’ve fallen for someone who really wants to make me happy, and vice versa. The miles between really don’t make a difference when you know you are both working at being together eventually.

I have so much more I want to share so will be splitting it all up into individual posts. There is so many beautiful photos to share, voodoo stores, shopping, food and so much more.

Counting down the days until I am back where my heart is. Next time I’m taking both girls, wish me luck!
