Having a house full of boys and a husband that works in a model shop we are well averse to making models of cars, bikes and helicopters etc.
Since the age on this Meccano Ducati Monster 1200s is 10+ we thought we would give it to Ethan (11) to see how he coped with it, first of all by himself then if need be, with a little help.
The printed instruction booklet is well laid out and details every step clearly. We particularly liked the fact there were size charts for the nuts and bolts which made it impossible to make a mistake.
Ethan needed some help with the more fiddly smaller nuts and bolts as you needed to be precise and there wasn’t much room for maneuver within the frame work. The parts are a mix of solid plastic and rigid metal which was helpful as this meant any issues were obvious from the start.
This was a project we both thoroughly enjoyed and it has given us a new found love of Meccano kits and can see these being a regular feature in our home.
Priced at 30.00 and takes approx 3 hours to complete.
