Sleep, or lack of it is a huge part of our lives! Did you know that we sleep for one third of our lives, based on 8 hours sleep per night we should average 229,961 hours of sleep in our lifetimes…ok so those of us with children can drastically reduce those hours but it’s still a lot!
During the day we always strive to have the best so why should our beds be anything different, since we spend so much time in bed the mattress should be a solid investment. Homework should be done on what type of mattress suits your needs best and I am a firm believer in you get what you pay for. Having spent many years buying the cheapest versions of everything possible you soon grow to realise this is false economy and you end up shelling out more in the long run!
Recently we were fortunate enough to be contacted by Hush, a company based in the heart of Wiltshire and manufacturers of premium quality mattresses. The Hush Premium Mattress features 1000 (pocket count) 18cm full size pocket springs (not micro-springs) and next generation memory foam and comes delivered IN A BOX!
Unfortunately I was out when the mattress was delivered and hubby, thinking he was doing me a favour, opened the box and unfurled the mattress before I had a chance to film the action – argghh! Poor soul was distraught when I told him I wanted to capture the opening and try as we might there was no getting the bad boy back into its tiny box! lol
What makes the Hush mattress amazing is the fact it fits into a 2ft x 5ft box – I’m talking KING SIZE too not single! AMAZING!
Hubby had managed to carry it upstairs by himself without any problems, in the past we have had issues with trying to wrangle mattresses up the stairs (we have a landing half way so trying to bend a mattress round the bannister is an issue). The box was light enough for one person to carry and once the mattress was taken out and in position on the bed you simply split the plastic and it uncurls into place.
The mattress has a non slip base which is great as our base is a divan and our old mattress had a tendency to slip around, since putting the Hush mattress in place it hasn’t moved once. Hush recommend leaving the mattress in place for a few hours to allow the air to circulate and expand to full capacity before using. Hubby had ours in place at lunch and by teatime it was ready for bedding – the kids of course had to have a bounce before I put the covers on! How fabulous does that topping look and SO SOFT too!
A couple of days after the mattress arrived I was taken into hospital and had emergency surgery to remove my gall bladder which I posted about a few days ago. Needless to say once I returned home the Hush mattress has become my best friend! Oh my goodness, I have never been so comfortable in bed and I really do think it is helping me recover quicker. Our old mattress would have given me awful back pain had I needed to sleep propped up – I can still remember the pain in my coccyx when I was recovering from my c-section, lying flat caused too much pain but sitting up was equally as painful due to the uncomfortable mattress. No such issues with Hush and I haven’t once felt hubby roll over in bed too, Amelia co sleeps with us and she is usually a little wriggly worm but now she barely moves – or at least I’m not feeling her move! Either way Hush has given me the peace I need to recover quicker!
We have mattress toppers on all of the kids beds and I would love to get them all a Hush mattress too one day as there really is a huge difference in quality of sleep!
We were kindly given the Hush mattress to review, all views and opinions are my own and genuine.
