Sometimes all you need is a little encouragement to tap into your creative side. There might be a creative activity that you used to enjoy doing but have just not had time to fit into your busy schedule recently. Getting into the right mindset and creating the ideal environment to work in can help speak your creative ideas again.
Listen to Music
Listening to music is a good place to start. It can help to encourage the mind to be creative. A study published in 2017 found that when participants listened to uplifting music, their mood improved and they were more inclined to think up creative ideas. So it could help if you listen to something that is familiar that won’t be too distracting, to help you stir up your creative ideas and help you feel inspired.
Creative Tasks With Your Children
When you have children you usually try and think of innovative ways to spend time with them that they will enjoy. This could also help spark your own creativity. You try some creative writing with them where you write an alternative ending to a story you are already familiar with, or create some lovely works of art. Drawing and painting can be quite a therapeutic exercise too, so good for a relaxing activity whilst also tapping into your creative side.
Design Your Own Home
If you really want to tap into your creativity then why not help design your own home with a home builder. It would also allow you to create the home of your dreams. Usually when you move into a new place there are aspects of it that you want to change over time to truly make it your own.
Group Activity With Friends
You could get together with your friends and get one person to teach the group a creative task that they are good at, whether it is cooking, sewing, crocheting, upcycling garden furniture, or creating a personalised photo collage. It is more of a relaxed atmosphere and you might not feel as pressurised compared to joining a professional class with other people who are already good at certain activities.
Sell Some Creative Pieces
You could set up an online account with places like Ebay or Etsy and start selling a few pieces of your work. You might find that this will help you boost your confidence when you realise that other people are willing to pay money for your creations and are happy with them. You might even enjoy doing this as a more permanent hobby which would also allow you to earn some extra money too, which is never a bad thing. Or you could find that you enjoy it enough to start running your own business from home. If you find being creative an enjoyable activity and are good at it, then you should definitely give it a try.
