For my 40th birthday my soul sister booked us both into a fabulous spa for the day, I traveled down to stay with her for the weekend and did not know a thing about it until I got there and she totally surprised me with it all. We even got to spend the day as tourists in London which coincided with the poppies at the tower – perfection. It was definitely one birthday I will never forget, nor the kindness shown by her too.
We keep in contact all of the time and we are typical girls and moms who have so much going on that life can pass us by and before we know it its weeks or even months before we speak again…time seems to stand still though and we pick up where we left off as if standing over the garden fence as next door neighbours.
Having both been through the mill these past couple of months I can see us needing a girly weekend catch up, something to help both of us relax and forget about all the stresses and worries of home life. Sometimes things just need to be reset, our bodies need an overhaul and we need to take some time to be ourselves again – some soul finding time!
I have been looking at Great Little Breaks and have found a few things that would satisfy the foodies in us, the pampering that needs to take place and of course the total seclusion of a beach front cottage that will certainly put everything into perspective and reset our minds and bodies! My top 3 getting away from it all venues would be:
I can totally see us sitting in the countryside tasting gourmet food or cruising around the Jurassic coast, not a care in the world, well at least for a weekend anyway.
Sometimes we all need a little getaway, what do you do when you need to escape for some you time? As mums we tend to feel guilty when we treat ourselves but i really do think we need to be on our best form before we can take care of anyone else – what about you?
XOXO
Debbie

The breaks sound amazing!! Definitely will be looking into those!!
I would love to see the poppies 🙂 Sounds like a wonderful way to relax, what a wonderful friend you have! x
You really do HAVE to take a break from time to time. No matter how hard core you are, you need to recharge those batteries.
This makes me slightly annoyed I live in Cyprus!! This looks fab xx
Ooooh some of these look amazing, I could really do with a nice break…
I am all about a get away; I’m doing a local getaway and for the last week of summer and I’m excited. My kids will be on vacation and I just want to unwind and get ready for the school year.
I hope that you enjoyed your 40th birthday. Mine is coming up and I am not really looking forward to it. I don’t know why but 40 just seems so old in my head.
I agree a small getaway is necessary from time to time. It’s been a while since I have gotten away for a day or two. Time to plan a small staycation or something with my husband.
Looks like you had a great small getaway! I just got back from a short family trip and I feel like I need a bit of a quiet getaway myself!
Ahh, what a lovely treat and what an amazing friend you have. I’m currently planning a girlie weekend away with my university friends. We love all over the country and it is not easy to get together now that everyone has kids. So looking forward to it though.
This looks great. I need a getaway with some afternoon tea to top it off. 🙂 – yolonda
