The most common things people forget when moving house.
Storage
Sometimes we have too many things to move at once, or the new house isn’t quite ready yet – which means you will need somewhere to put your belongings until you can move them into your new place.
Letting The Right People Know
Just how many people that need to know about your move actually do? You would be surprised at the amount of people who move and simply forget to tell anyone about it, including their family members.
As soon as you have your move date confirmed, start letting people know. Remember to go through all utility providers (telephone, internet, water, electric, etc.) creditors, the bank, doctors, your place of work and anywhere else that you correspond with regularly, and inform them of your new address and contact information.
Use Proper Packing Materials
It is always hard to imagine just how much stuff you actually have in your home and until it comes to emptying all of those cupboards and rooms you can severely underestimate the amount of packing materials needed.
A lot of supermarkets allow you to reuse the big boxes that they have, saves the environment and pennies too. You can also buy boxes and packing paper from a removal company – not only will they be sturdy enough to withstand the move, but some even offer second-hand boxes which will lower the cost. (Or cheat and get Affordable Removal Services in to do it all for you!)
Moving On A Weekend
Unless you really can’t control the situation, try as hard as you can not to move on a weekend. It might be tempting to deliberately schedule your move so that you have the weekend to sort your house out without taking too much time away from work, but it’s the busiest time of the week for removal companies, particularly during the height of the summer so you might struggle with availability. But not only that – think about the traffic!
Labelling Boxes
This might sound pretty obvious to remember, but when there’s so much else to think about, little things like labelling a box can easily be forgotten. And although it may seem like a small mistake to make, the impact it can have on your move once you reach the new home can be quite a big one.
Always label your boxes in marker pen with the name of the room they are to be put in when unloading. Mark any box containing fragile items clearly as this will remind you which ones to take extra care of loading and unloading. And mark anything that’s got priority items in it with a number so that it gets unpacked first, (like the essentials box that has everything that you will need for the first night in your new place.)

For those who prefer a more traditional home-like experience when on vacation, a timeshare can make sense. If you’ve gotten many years of good use out of your timeshare and now want to get rid of it, a timeshare cancellation company like Timeshare Freedom Group or Lonestar transfer may be able to help.
