Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without a tipple or two, I have rounded up some of my favourites and some of the prettiest bottles I have seen too – how amazing will that Mermaid Gin bottle look with fairy lights once empty!
First up is a decadent Whisky from Copper Dog which comes complete with little copper dog (the device that was used to sneak whiskey home from the cask!) I think this is the most beautiful bottle I have ever seen! Even the feel of it is like what I would imagine mermaid scales to be. Mermaid Gin is from the Isle of Wight Distillery and is a small batch gin containing 10 botanicals. Mermaid Gin achieves classification as a London Dry Gin, a marque of quality, using 100% natural ingredients and no additives. RRP: £39.50 from Isle of Wight Distillery
From vineyard to winery this is a 100% English wine and deserves to be head of the table come Christmas day. A delicious medium bodied smooth white pinot gris with fresh pear, citrus and honeysuckle. A very easy to drink wine that would be a great addition to any white meat, fish or Asian dish. RRP: £19.99 from Bolney Wine Estate
Martini Asti Ice has been specifically created to be served over ice, which makes it a lovely addition to any summer occasion. An exclusive twist on the famous Martini Asti, whilst using the same grapes, the Asti Ice is fermented for longer so that it flawlessly complements the ice. This new sparkling wine is available now in Asda and Ocado for £9.
They have also released their first non alcoholic sparkling drink, the Dolce 0.0%, which is available in Morrisons for £6. This would be great for anyone who is looking at moderating their alcohol consumption but who doesn’t want to miss out!
Aber Falls Distillery is one of my favourite one stop shops for all kinds of spirits. I was kindly gifted both the Rhubarb & Ginger gin and the Salted Toffee Liqueur. Situated at the gateway of Snowdonia National Park, the distillery is one of only a handful of businesses in the village They work very closely with residents to integrate into the local community. With a wide selection of drinks available including whiskey, gin and liquors, distillery tours and so much more available, Aber Falls is definitely on my ‘to visit’ list. Ben & Dan Ritsema collaborated with one of the UK’s top mixologists to develop Cranes versatile, double award winning, Liqueur.
