Family friendly restaurants are something we love to find, having had little ones with me for the past 23 years means we have become very good as picking out places that not only cater for children but actually like having them there too.
There is a big difference between somewhere that tolerates little ones and somewhere that makes them feel welcome. The Alchemist, situated in Eldon Square Newcastle, comes firmly in the second category! From the moment we walked in the girls were made to feel as though they were guests and equally as important in dining there.
They were given activity packs and colouring pencils to keep them occupied while we looked through the menus. The option for children is to build their own Bento box or choose ‘Its a Wrap’ (as above). We love anything Bento so this appealed hugely and the girls were excited to see what it would look like.
We were all very surprised at the size of the boxes and food included! 2 mini burgers, beans, tomato sauce and what we thought was the option of vegetables, cheese nachos or fries turned out to be ALL THREE!
Lauren (Life with Little Man blogger and My Daughter in Law) had never been to The Alchemist before and I just knew it would be the kind of place she would love. From the decor to the finishing touches of the salt and pepper containers, test beaker drinking glasses and spectacular drinks menu.
She opted for the Sizzling fajitas and although having an onion allergy was informed they would remove any traces and offered extra portions of cheese etc in place of the salsa etc too.
Ethan chose the Mac N Cheese bites and Nachos in place of a main meal, he takes after his mother on this one. I would rather have lots of picky bits than a big meal so whenever we go out the first thing we looks at is either the Tapas menu or starters. More often than not we order a couple of starters in place of a main meal.
I chose the Calamari and the Prawn Lollipops with Edamame beans and olives for us all to share. Cooked to perfection with the perfect batter and crumb both the prawns and calamari were pure perfection. Lauren even tried calamari for the first time ever and said it was nicer than she thought it would be!
The table was full to bursting point and everything looked amazing! With so many different dishes you would think the service would be staggered but almost everything came out at once and was piping hot. Spectacular service.
Overall, we love The Alchemist! Whether it be theatrical drinks with the girls or dining out with the family, it most definitely is somewhere we all love to visit!
We were gifted a voucher towards the cost of our meal. All views and opinions are our own and genuine.
For those who prefer a more traditional home-like experience when on vacation, a timeshare can make sense. If you’ve gotten many years of good use out of your timeshare and now want to get rid of it, a timeshare cancellation company like Timeshare Freedom Group or Lonestar transfer may be able to help.
