Although we have never had a holiday abroad it seemed silly to go away this year with the weather being so beautiful, you could guarantee if I did book somewhere it would be glorious back here and snowing in Spain! As the sun is still shining we have booked a midweek break in the UK, close to the beach and with a pool so that the kids can splash all day.
I love simple easy to wear clothes when on holiday, something I can just pick up and throw on whether it be over the top of a swimming costume or with a cardigan on a night if its a little cooler. This is why I love dresses during the warmer months, no messing around with co ordinating pieces or having that awful sweat when wearing jeans etc. I have picked out some of my favourite pieces from a fab surf shop in Cornwall, Ann’s Cottage specialises in surf wear and really easy to wear pieces from all of the top names in their field.
My first choice is a Roxy wrap dress, I am a huge lover of wrap dresses as I have a rather large chest and the dresses hang a lot better as they tend to cling to the right places instead of draping and making me look bigger than I am! This dress has a really pretty print and would easily make the switch from a beach dress over swimwear with sandals like these below from Donaghy’s to night time look with heels and a bright lip!

I adore this dress as I can imagine it working well with white linen trousers or skinny white jeans should it get cooler on a night, it is just that right length to pass as a long tunic top but would work equally as well with strappy sandals for a lazy brunch with the girls. One thing I have found with Roxy clothing is that you don’t really need to iron either, the pieces I do have are made for travel and active wear so seem to have a great feel to the fabric.

My final choice is a dress by Volcom, the polka dot mesh dress just screams summer and chilled out bbq’s on the beach to me! I love the floating hem and the lace yolk, it is a rather hippy style that reminds me of 60s clips where everyone is free loving and life looked like it was care free! Popping this over the top of a costume with trainers for a walk around town before heading to the beach would be such a cute way to cover up if this sun continues…and fingers crossed it keeps shining until well into September!

XOXO
Debbie
