By now you know my love of being in the kitchen. To be honest this past 6 months or so I have neglected my fondness for creating yummy goodies and opted for take out or ‘picky bits’
That has outstayed its welcome though and I feel the pull of creating from scratch. I am looking forward to trying new recipes and I have spent the last few days getting lost in instagram reels and tik toks, looking at foods from around the world.
I purchased my Kitchenaid mixer around 6 years ago now and have used it way less than I really should. When I first got it I hammered it almost every day and really didn’t think I could ever live without it. Over the past few months I have looked at it fondly but not actually gotten around to using it! However after spotting a few cake and biscuit recipes online I am excited and feel the pull of it once more! Needless to say there will be a lot more to come on the baking front!
Having a child who is homeschooled though is a great excuse to get in the kitchen. Home economics is a subject I loved at school and I am pleased to say that Evie takes after her mama! As she is just starting out on creating recipes from scratch I came across a simple 3 ingredient scone recipe and thought it would be a great way to get her into the swing of things. Something easy and that could be created by hand.
Thankfully we have a whole host of beautiful KitchenAid tools that make being in the kitchen a pleasure. Even the feel of the utensils is completely different to others we have used. There is a weight behind them which in turn gives you confidence when creating. Evie used the whisk, spatula and the spoon. Each has a beautiful cream weighted handle with the KitchenAid logo embossed into it. They match my KitchenAid mixer perfectly and are so aesthetically pleasing and easy to clean it is safe to say they are by far superior than other utensils I have used.
We had so much fun creating these and to be honest, although they lacked much in the way of flavour, they were bumped up with plenty of jam and fresh cream.
A perfect super quick recipe if you don’t have many ingredients in or are looking or a sweet quick fix. We are working on some chocolate brownies and Smores layer cake so check back soon to see how we get on.
