In life, it’s up to you to make the decisions that you think are best to get the most out of your life, and sometimes that doesn’t go as planned, but that’s okay! There are many people all over the world who have made mistakes or decisions that have led them down a path in life that they no longer enjoy, and regret those decisions that they had made earlier in their life. That doesn’t; mean that you can’t just drop it all and turn around to work on something new and better! Whether it’s an unhealthy decision that you had made or a career decision that you’ve now invested a lot of time into so you’re unsure about the idea of “wasting” it.
Keeping something up just because of your previous investments is called the sunk cost fallacy, and it’s the idea that you’re wasting all of that effort before, meaning you have to stick with it now. That’s now how it should be at all! If you’re no longer enjoying that thing that you invested a lot into reaching, then your current time is also being wasted; when you could be doing something that makes you feel fulfilled!
Getting help
Sometimes in life, it’s natural to need help, especially when it comes to making such huge changes in life. Sadly, sometimes the mistakes people make can lead them into addiction, which takes control over their everyday life. Being addicted to a drug or something else can start to rule your life, and it can be very difficult to get out of – something that many people can’t do on their own! There are centers for this where you get help, and they are dedicated to helping you. Just think about it, you could be planning your life after rehab once you set your foot in the door, getting ready for new and happy experiences.
Back to square one
The idea of going back to where it all started can seem scary, but sometimes that’s just what you need if you’re going to try a new path in life! Going back to university or college can be a great experience, and if you’re passionate about what you’re doing, it’s going to be easy to get through it! Adults going back to college to try something new in life isn’t anything unheard of, and it can be a necessity when it comes to bettering your life!
You only get one life, and it’s up to you how you want to spend it. You should be doing your best to find the most fulfilling and enjoyable route through your life, rather than spending it in a career that you don’t gain satisfaction anymore. Pick up those new talents, try those things that you’ve always wanted to, meet new people, and don’t spend a day longer than you have to do something that you don’t like! If you want to learn an instrument, you should! If you want to learn a new language, you should!
