If you’re like most, you’re probably ready for the colder weather to ease off. A great way to tackle these winter blues is by planning for the warmer weather. You could plan a family vacation, or even arrange a weekend getaway to the beach. But, in this post, we’re going to take a look at some ways you can prepare your garden ready for the warmer weather so that you can enjoy warm spring evenings and long summer days where you feel most comfortable.

There’s a good chance your garden has become a little overgrown with weeds and shrubbery over the winter months. You should start by pulling up any weeds and trimming back shrubs. Now you can begin picking up or raking any dead leaves and debris that may have made its way into your garden. It’s also a good idea to remove any dead plants that didn’t make it through the winter. You’ll then have a clean slate to work with when it comes to planting new flowers when the weather warms up a little.
If you forgot to cover your garden furniture, or you think it’s on its last legs, now is the time to consider upgrading it. You don’t have to spend a lot of money here either, as you could always upcycle other pieces of furniture you own into garden furniture. Got an old dining table? Treat it with waterproof sealant spray and voila – you’ve got a new outdoor table. The same goes with chairs, but you could always get creative in other ways there too. Alternatively, if you are able to buy a new dining set, why not splash out?
If you’ve got a pool area, it probably hasn’t been used in a few months, so now is the time to check it over. If you don’t have experience in checking your pool for any issues, it’s a good idea to get a professional to come for a maintenance check. Alternatively, if your pool is a little outdated, you could use swimming pool paint to refresh the space without having to spend a lot on renovations.
Take a look at the exterior of your home – is it looking a little grimy? If the answer is yes and you’re planning on entertaining over the warmer months, then you want your home to look as beautiful as possible. Refresh your home’s exterior by power washing the siding and checking for any loose shingles. You’ll be amazed what an afternoon can do for your home’s curb appeal!
Finally, if you’re the type that spends every second possible in your garden during the summer, then why not install an outdoor kitchen or BBQ area? Imagine getting out of the pool, walking across a warm deck and cooking your family’s favourite meal – sounds lush right? Again this doesn’t have to be expensive – just enough amenities and some shelter to enjoy some much needed shade.
