New Year, New Living Room – Key Interior Styles For 2017

Do you think your living room could do with a bit of an update? If so, the new year is a great time to give it a bit of a makeover. After all, new year, new living room!

To make sure that your new living room looks as stylish as possible, you should start thinking about some of the interior design trends that are going to be big in 2017. That way, the room will look extremely chic and on trend. Not sure what’s going to be big next year? Here are some of my favourite interior styles that are set to be big in 2017!

Go With Terracotta

For the past few years, neutral pastel shades have been the most popular colours for walls and decor. However, things are set to change next year, and most of the big interior designers have set their sites on warm earth tones, such as terracotta. To make these colours stand out as much as possible, you should team them with a crisp white in your decor. Make sure your earth tones all have a matte finish, as shiny earth colours are still associated with the 1980s! These colour shades and tones will work particularly well in a rustic or vintage-style living room.

Use Dark Greens

Not too keen on using terracotta and other earth tones in your living room? That’s OK, there is another colour that looks like it will take over the interior design world next year. And that is going to be green. All greens will be particularly fashionable, but dark green is going to be the chicest of them all! One cool way of using this tone is to paint your living room a shade of white and then add some dark green furnishings, such as a stylish armchair and Chesterfield sofa. These pieces of furniture will really pop with colour and grab everyone’s attention!

Decor Goes Sparkly

Up until now, understated decor has been en vogue. However, next year things are going to be a lot more bling! In fact, you will see that the home decor shops start to stock lots of items of furniture and decorative pieces that are covered in jewels and sparkles. Metallics and raw-cut gems will also add lots of sparkle to interior design. So remember to include lots of this bling to your new living room’s design.

Mix Your Patterns

Patterns have always played a major part in interior design. However, they are going to get mixed up in 2017! You no longer just have to stick to one pattern in your room. It was previously thought that using more than one pattern in a room created a messy decor. However, this isn’t the case anymore. In fact, lots of interior designers now think mixing patterns is a great way to add as much colour as possible to your rooms.
