Welcome to October and our “Mystical Mama” theme! After a month of building protection and abundance, we’re diving into something every mother possesses but often doubts: your intuitive wisdom. That gut feeling when something’s not right with your child. The inner knowing that guides your family decisions. The maternal instinct that’s been your secret superpower all along.
After twenty years of blogging and raising six children, I’ve learned that a mother’s intuition isn’t mystical nonsense – it’s practical magic. It’s the accumulated wisdom of countless observations, the subconscious processing of subtle cues, and yes, something deeper that connects us to our children in ways science is only beginning to understand.
This October, as the veil between worlds grows thin and our natural psychic abilities heighten, we’re starting with the jar that helps you trust the wisdom you already possess: the Third Eye Opening Jar.
October carries a special energy that spiritual traditions have recognized for millennia. The veil between the physical and spiritual worlds grows thinner. Our dreams become more vivid. Our hunches prove more accurate. Even skeptics often notice they’re more intuitive during this mystical month.
As mothers, we’re already naturally intuitive. We know when our child is getting sick before symptoms appear. We sense relationship problems before they’re spoken. We feel called to check on someone just when they need us most.
But society teaches us to doubt these gifts. To rely on expert opinions over our inner knowing. To question our instincts instead of trusting them.
This jar isn’t about developing supernatural powers – it’s about reclaiming the intuitive wisdom that’s your birthright as a mother.
Before we dive into the mystical aspects, let’s acknowledge what research tells us about maternal intuition. Studies show that mothers can identify their newborn’s cry within days of birth. We unconsciously pick up on micro-expressions, changes in behavior, and subtle environmental cues that our conscious mind hasn’t yet processed.
What we call “intuition” is often our brain’s rapid processing of information we’ve absorbed but haven’t consciously recognized. Combined with the deep emotional and even hormonal connection we have with our children, it creates what feels like psychic knowing.
But here’s what I’ve learned over two decades of mothering: whether it’s science or magic doesn’t matter. What matters is learning to trust it.
Ingredients:
The Wisdom Behind Each Element:
Step 1: Set Your Intuitive Intention Before you begin, write down what you want to strengthen about your intuition. Maybe it’s “Trust my first instincts about my children” or “Recognize guidance when it comes” or “Feel confident in my parenting decisions.”
Step 2: Honor Your Existing Wisdom As you add each ingredient, acknowledge the intuitive hits you’ve already had. “I honor the times I’ve known something was wrong before anyone else saw it” or “I celebrate my ability to sense what my family needs.”
Step 3: Layer with Trust Start with the clear quartz chips at the bottom – amplifying your natural abilities. Add your written intention. Layer the rosemary while thinking of times your intuition has served you well. Add the mugwort (this is your dream and vision enhancer). Top with your amethyst and labradorite/moonstone – your third eye activators.
Step 4: Activate with Intention Light your candle and hold the jar near the flame. Close your eyes and speak to your higher wisdom: “I trust the knowing that comes from within. I honor my maternal intuition as sacred guidance.”
Step 5: Place for Nightly Connection This jar belongs on your bedside table or in your bedroom where you can connect with it during quiet moments. Many insights come through dreams or in the peaceful moments before sleep.
This jar isn’t about becoming psychic – it’s about trusting the wisdom you already have. Since creating my first Third Eye Opening Jar, I’ve noticed:
The jar doesn’t give you new abilities – it reminds you to trust the ones you already possess.
This is a beautiful jar to discuss with older children (10+) because it validates their own intuitive abilities. Children are naturally psychic until society teaches them to doubt their inner knowing.
Let them help create their own small intuition jars while you discuss:
“What if I’m wrong?” – You’ll be wrong sometimes, and that’s okay. The goal isn’t perfection; it’s developing trust in your inner guidance system.
“What will others think?” – Other people don’t live with your children 24/7. They don’t have your deep connection and accumulated wisdom. Their opinions, while well-meaning, can’t replace your maternal knowing.
“I don’t feel psychic.” – You don’t need to be psychic to be intuitive. You just need to notice the subtle feelings, hunches, and knowings that arise naturally in your daily life.
“Science doesn’t support this.” – Actually, research increasingly supports the reality of maternal intuition. But even if it didn’t, your lived experience is valid data.
Dream Work: Keep a notebook by your bed. Often, guidance comes through dreams or in the moments between sleep and waking.
Meditation: Even five minutes of quiet breathing can help you tune into your inner wisdom.
Body Awareness: Notice how different decisions feel in your body. Does your stomach tighten? Do your shoulders relax? Your body often knows before your mind does.
First Instincts: Practice noting your first reaction to situations before your analytical mind kicks in. Often, that first hit is the most accurate.
Sometimes your intuition will guide you in directions that don’t make logical sense. Maybe you feel called to keep your child home from school on a day when nothing seems wrong. Maybe you have a strong urge to call a friend you haven’t spoken to in months.
These moments are opportunities to practice trusting your inner guidance. Start with small, low-stakes situations to build confidence in your intuitive abilities.
Creating this jar during October taps into the season’s natural enhancement of psychic abilities. Many mothers report stronger dreams, clearer guidance, and more accurate hunches during this mystical month.
Use this natural boost to strengthen your trust in your inner wisdom. Pay attention to the insights that come. Write them down. Notice when they prove accurate.
This week, I challenge you to notice and honor three intuitive hits. Maybe it’s a feeling about your child’s emotional state. Maybe it’s guidance about a family decision. Maybe it’s a hunch about someone in your life.
Don’t judge whether they’re “right” or “wrong” – just notice them and write them down. You’re building trust in your inner guidance system.
Next Monday, we’ll create the Ancestor Connection Jar – perfect timing as we approach Samhain (Halloween), when the veil between worlds is thinnest and our connection to those who came before us is strongest.
What would change in your mothering if you fully trusted your intuitive wisdom? What decisions would you make differently? What guidance have you been ignoring that deserves your attention?
Remember: you already possess profound wisdom about your children and your family. This jar isn’t giving you new abilities – it’s helping you trust the ones you’ve always had.
Your maternal intuition is one of your greatest gifts. It’s time to honor it as the sacred guidance it truly is.
Trust yourself, mama. You know more than you think you do.
Next Monday: The Ancestor Connection Jar – because the wisdom of those who came before us flows through our maternal lineage.
Share this post with a friend who needs permission to trust her maternal instincts. Tag me @countryheartandhome if you create your Third Eye Opening Jar – I love seeing how this ancient wisdom manifests in modern motherhood. ✨
