Being a teen is tough, contrary to my kids beliefs I actually was one too! Albeit a few years ago now but I still remember how difficult those times were with hormones raging and the feeling of loneliness. Even when with friends and family I could never shake the feeling of being different. Of course over years you realise that you aren’t necessarily different to anyone, at that age, everyone is experiencing it.
Teen calm is a subscription box that was created by a mother and daughter team from their home in the Midlands. Cathy and Freya run the entire business themselves to help teens regulate their feelings through a combination of helpful gifts, stress-reducing toys, and relaxation-inducing goodies.
The box we received was packed with helpful, and amazing smelling products:
A book dedicated to break the taboo around mental health. Fearne talks about her own battle with depression and there are practical exercises throughout the book that you can join in.
I love these masks that you simply take out of the packet and pop on your face. No messing with clay or liquid, just lay it onto your skin and lie back for 20 minutes. Great for taking a time out and a little self care.
Sour Watermelon candies! These gourmet sweets are vegan, gluten free, contain natural colours and flavours and are made with fruit juice. A great little sour pick me up!
A game by Ellie Dix for 2 players from The Dark Imp. A great little game to get you talking with a friend or at least socialising with another person. Your opponent picks a symbol and you have to ask questions to guess the right one. Cute pocket game for on the go.
This little Chick Bath Bomb in bubble gum scent was created by Bath Bomb Bliss which is the next town over from where I live! A great find in this box to see something from a local company being used and highlighting that BBB was even there. I will most definitely be buying more as this smells absolutely amazing and filled the room as soon as the box was opened.
This is one thing I have never heard of before but I adore the concept. It is a monkey attached to a birdcage which is in turn attached to a keyring created by Lilibuts Jewellery & Gifts. When you have voices in your head telling you you can’t do something or negative thoughts take hold of the money and push his head up into the cage. It is a way to remind yourself that you are in control of your own mind monkeys.
Although this is a subscription box you can purchase on a monthly basis at £25 each. However, with all subscriptions the longer you subscribe the cheaper it will be.
There is a blog alongside the Teen Calm subscription where you can visit to get ideas for helping with your teen. Advise on helping those who self harm, dealing with stress or anxiety and giving tips on sleeping better.
We were gifted this box for the purpose of a review, all views and opinions are my own and genuine.
