Protest is the world leader in sportswear, including both womens ski jackets and mens ski jackets. They have just launched their new Streetwear collection. I was given the opportunity to work with them and trial a couple of their pieces and see how they fit into everyday living.
NXG by Protest is our quality streetwear collection, a combination of edgy street looks and superior fabrics and detailing. Made from cotton blend, the fabric is a yarn-dyed stripe. The Bronte which I chose is a classic style that pairs well with both jeans and trousers. Both the fit and the length are regular. The perfect long sleeve for the cooler weather we are starting to get now. Priced at £29.99 and available in coral or blue.
The Protest ethics are something that I am firmly behind. Protest is a member of Amfori BSCI. The aim of this organization is to improve the social performance of global supply chains. This means that they offer safe, humane working conditions and decent pay. They reject child labour. The factories they work with are regularly reviewed to ensure that these standards are maintained. Animal welfare is important and they use alternatives to duck down and refuse to use angora or fur. The products are shipped via ocean to to cut down on global emissions too.
The Galia Hoody is also part of the NXG label, and made from a heavy weight cotton fleece, there is a big kangaroo pouch at the front. The cuffs and bottom hem are ribbed fabric, as well as a thick lace drawstring at the neck. Both the fit and the length are regular and long enough to cover my bottom in jeans etc, something I always tend to look for in sweatshirts or hoody style tops. This really is a beautiful hoody and stands out amongst all the available womens fleeces. Priced at £69.99 and available in coral, mint and black.
The final piece I chose was the Jimbu Zip Up jacket in space blue. Made from a heavy weight fleece, the fabric has a yarn-dyed stripe, which basically means that the stripe is knitted instead of printed. The zipper runs down the side of the garment which is a great detail and gives double thickness at the front. Making it much warmer for our terrible UK weather! There is ribbed fabric at the wrists and the bottom hem too. Priced at £79.99 and available in coral and blue.
Overall I am delighted with the Protest streetwear items I chose as they are classic timeless pieces that wash well and still look brand new. They look great with jeans and I have had so many compliments on the cut and style of both the stripe top and jacket. Not only are there womens clothes but the childrens and mens clothing look very impressive. I am going to order one of the mens fleeces for my eldest for Christmas, this is something he would really appreciate.
