This week has been National Storytelling Week so we thought it would be a nice insight into our bedtime routine to share with you our top three stories that the girls love to be read over and over again.
First up is one of Amelias favourites, we got this from a charity shop last year and its one she adores, it is a quick read too so most nights we can get through this one and a chapter of their other favourites. Bringing Down The Moon is a lovely story of a little mole who thinks the moon is so beautiful that he wants it….only he realises that is not as easy as he thinks! Its a beautiful story by Jonathan Emmett which shows that you can’t have everything and some things need to be appreciated just where they are.

Our second choice is any of the Isadora Moon books written by Harriet Muncaster. These were initially Evies choice after receiving one for her birthday but having listened to her laugh with delight as she reads we decided to add it to our bedtime list. With just over 100 pages per book and little activites to do in the back there is always something fun going on that Isadora is either involved in or needs to solve. Oh and did I mention Isadora is half vampire, half fairy? As you can imagine this makes for a lot of trouble and adventure!

Third on our list is one that I think everyone has or should read. Tom Fletchers The Christmasaurus. We got this when it first came out a couple of years ago and just love the whole magical setting Tom created for this dino-tastic adventure book. It is Christmassy but certainly not just for that time of year – its about the North Pole, a young boy and his father and the cutest little dinosaur you will ever see. Most definitely one to read chapter by chapter each night as it is a huge book!

What are you bedtime favourites? Do you have go to books that you read over and over?
Furniture Village have been looking into what makes the perfect childrens story and have created this fabulous infographic with the results.

How stunning is that and in my opinion spot on for what I am looking for in a good bedtime book. Another of our favourite authors is Julia Donaldson, the girls in particular love Jake and the Flum Flum tree, I am glad to see we aren’t the only fans too. Pop over to see why Julia is one of Phils favourite childrens authors too!
XOXO

When I was young we used to read a few of our own bedtime stories but not read any of these before.
