Since hitting 40 my skin seems to go through more stages than it did when I was a teen – oh the breakouts I get now could rival the 14 year old me and win hands down! Add to this the inevitable lines, cough, wrinkles and the puffy, I just survived 3 hours sleep with hysterical children who have night terrors on a regular basis, bags under my eyes then you get the ‘not so pretty’ picture!
I have always been a fan of The Body Shop and even worked for them hosting parties with Body Shop at Home where I would go to other peoples homes and create make up looks, display the products and show people what worked well for their skin etc. Now that was a job I really loved, hosting up to 15 parties a week leading up to Christmas, not just held in peoples homes but in places of work and old peoples homes etc too. The oldies use to love being able to choose gifts themselves as generally a lot of them couldn’t get out and about so shopping was always left to others – this gave them a little sense of normality again. Doing make up on the elderly was always great as their faces lit up having been pampered and seeing themselves made up. (I think I may be talking myself into joining again!) lol
Anyways I digress! Having joined the Body Shop review panel a little while ago I was given the opportunity to review the new Drops of Light range which supposedly does as it says on the tin….gives the skin a healthy bright glow. I was sent the Brightening Serum, Pure Clarifying Foam Wash and the Brightening Essence Lotion.
Having completely emptied all 3 of these products I can officially rave about them with authority!
The foam wash is the gentlest cleanser I have used in a long time, generally going for something with ‘bits’ in to help deep clean I realised quickly that I wasn’t doing much other than damaging my skin! The harshness of the particles was making my skin sore and tight after washing where as this foam wash was gentle and left my skin feeling thoroughly cleansed but soft and hydrated too.
After the foam cleanser I used a few drops of the serum all over my face and neck, because the cleanser worked so well the serum sunk into my skin with no residue. I have tried using serums in the past but have always had a greasy feel and look afterwards so just presumed they werent for my skin type – little did i know it was the prep work that I was getting wrong all this time. Once my skin is properly cleansed the serum is practically sucked in with no greasy layer which meant that it was working deep into my skin and not just sitting on top.
Since the serum was working deep into my face and neck I would then add a few drops of the brightening essense lotion, this is a deliciously cold gel that feels so refreshing on the skin. Again this has never left a greasy film or residue on my face or neck and I love the feel of my skin once I have used this whole routine.
The only difference every night would be that I would use the Clarisonic with the foam wash twice a week for an even deeper clean or after I have worn heavy make up.
Right now I am out of all 3 and desperate to get back to using them as you don’t realise what you had until its gone and now I have reverted back to using some of my stand by products my skin is also reverting back to being dull and OH MY GOODNESS is that a SPOT!!
XOXO
