Well, when we started out this year I never in a million of them would have imagined we would spend the best part in the same 4 walls dodging pandemic infection and having to wear masks! It is like something from a Hollywood movie, you know the one where the hero wins the day, the dog survives and everyone lives happily ever after – well, here’s hoping anyway!
I thought I would do a little write up so that I can look back on the positives of lockdown and staying at home with the girls rather than look at it as a time when there are so many DON’T. It is so good for the soul to focus on the good points.
Spending time with my girls has been a huge plus point for me. I hated sending them back to school after home schooling so this kind of forced my hand into doing it again just 6 months after they returned and you know what…. It really has made me rethink having them home all the time. We all seem to thrive so much more and we have worked out a great balance of play, school and work. Going back in September is going to be something I will have to consider and for that I am thankful for lockdown. It made me re-evaluate what we need and seeing the girls so happy again is definitely something that makes it a decision we all need to make.
For some reason, although I have added a stone in weight I am a lot more comfortable with who I am. I have had lots of time for self care and looking after my skin, getting a tan and treating my hair regularly has me all loved up with myself! Ok, so slight exaggeration about the whole loved up bit but there has been more than one occasion when I have thought ‘damn girl you got this’. We all need to cut ourselves some slack right now and hell if there is cake on offer or popcorn with the girls and a movie then I’m not saying no anymore. If anything this lockdown and loss of life worldwide shows us that life really is too short and you just don’t know what is around the corner….pass the candy!
Netflix, Prime, Now Tv, Sky…. you name it we have watched it and caught up with every series going! What else is there to do on a night but camp out and watch all the movies too! To be honest at the start of lockdown when everyone was watching Tiger King I thought it would be maybe the only set we would get through. How wrong was I and just how long ago does that all feel? Have you been watching anything new? I’m in dire need of something new to watch.
Cross stitch, reading and play time. We have had so much down time that I have completed the mammoth task of the monster hotel and also started a new IT theme cross stitch. Nothing better than taking a cup of tea to bed, popping on a movie and chilling out. The same with books, I have kind of gone a little nuts of Amazon and added loads to my wish list which has caused a tsunami of reading material through the door. I am a sucker for a cover (well aware of the famous phrase!) so a lot of my books are bought based solely on how beautiful the front cover is – bad I know but it does make for interesting reading!
With things easing up soon life as we know it is going to change, I do think its about getting use to the new normal rather than going back to how things were though. How has your life changed in lockdown? For the better or worse?
Take some time to pull the good bits from it, somehow it makes it a little easier to get through each day.
