These days, it can seem as though there is a beauty product for just about everything. But what about how you feel inside? There may be a product to cover those dark circles, but how do we wake up simple without them?
This is the start to my wellness week.

If you really want to maintain great skin, beautiful locks of hair and a healthy body for years to come then you will need to ask yourself if a beauty regime is really the key? Our mental and physical wellbeing can have a much bigger impact on the way we look than most of us think so be prepared to take care of your body from the inside. Here are just some of the ways that you can take care of yourself to enhance your natural beauty.
Eating well

Your body performs on the condition that you fuel it with the right kind of things. I’m not saying that you should cut sugar or fat out of your diet completely I’m just saying some moderation is key. For instance, I have the biggest sweet tooth in all the land and there is no denying that I am thinking about chocolate right at this very moment, but instead I’m going to opt for a mango. Mangoes are so sweet and juicy, they are the new avocado. I could eat mango every day and you know what? I feel better for it, while also not hating myself for over indulging on it – can you even over indulge on a mango? Our bodies were not designed to cope with a huge intake of processed foods, so if you are serious about nourishing your body, skin and hair, then find alternative treats to help revert back to a more natural, balanced diet.
Meditating
Stress is one of the number one causes behind premature ageing and when we are feeling highly strung, our appearance can show it. I recently popped into Rituals on my way home from work and they taught me that small, positive moments of regulated breathing is the ultimate way to relieve stress. I left their store feeling uplifted, headache free and positive. You might not think that meditation is for you but the next time you feel a stress headache coming on, just close your eyes and try some small breathing exercises; you will feel better in no time. The external factors which cause stress are unfortunately never going to go away, so it’s all just about finding ways to manage the way you feel. There are at least 10 reasons to meditate so try it today.
Getting enough sleep

I am a bit of a snuggle bug and yet I always feel tired. Sleep deprivation can creep up on you when you least expect it so you need to take care of yourself. Take some down time in the evenings where you switch off the electronics, dim the lights and spend some time with your old friends; the characters in your books will fill your dreams with romance, freedom and adventure.
One of the worst things is to have empty dreams full of annoyances from the day or work dramas, you wake up asking if you even slept at all and before you know it you’re up early getting ready for another day of work. Our dreams need a little inspiration sometimes in order to offer us the closure and light we need. They say that the people in our dreams are people we’ve seen in the day so I say add a little bit of spice from your favourite novel, you never know who you’ll end up dreaming about…

I’m not actually very good at reading at night because my eyes start drooping almost immediately so instead I light a candle, make myself a herbal tea, create an essential oil blend and I play music. Last night I switched off the TV at 7:30 and lay back with my old friends singing sweet broken melodies of lost love and days gone by. When I awoke this morning I was awake. Now considering I had a three day weekend, the 6:30 alarm should have made me cry out in pain but instead I jumped out of bed, revitalised for the day to come.
You need to realise the times when you need to prioritize your sleep . Curl up with a book, or some music and enjoy that time for yourself. You’ll feel better and look better for it – which can only be a good thing, right?!

So to summarise: Surround yourself by nature, drink plenty of water (not mentioned above but an obvious given), eat well and allow your body to rest – these things are free and will do your body more good than a draw full of beauty product and miracle cream ever could. The real miracle is Mother Nature so let her help guide you to a more natural you.
