For me the smart casual look is something I aim for most of the time, well when I’m not lazing around the house in pjs! When I venture out I tend to like a more laid back but ‘made an effort’ look so tea dresses and 50s style skirts feature a lot in my wardrobe as both can be dressed up or down depending on occasion.
I firmly believe jeans have their place in the smart casual wardrobe too, as long as they are a good fit and give form instead of paint stained, ripped and hanging off you, a decent pair of well fitted jeans with white shirt can work wonders for the wardrobe. Nothing says understated style like jeans, white shirt and red lipstick!
As I have recently lost weight I have been updating my wardrobe and have included a few pieces below that I am going to add over the summer, as you can see from my most wanted items pictured in this post I am a girly girl and love nothing more than neutrals! At the moment flats are my best friend and I am all about the frill. Of course you really need to start underneath the clothing with well fitting underwear like those I wear from Chums, a ill fitting bra that cuts you or adds extra lumps is going to take away from the overall look of the outfit and no one likes a VPL!
Classic looks never go out of style and you should always have a capsule wardrobe of pieces that can be dressed up or down. I seem to find that if I spend a little more on a piece of clothing I can style it more to suit the ocassion, I am happy to pop on some heals to dress up some jeans or throw on trainers and slouch t-shirt for a more dressed down look.
Overall I think the Smart Casual style is becoming more and more popular dress down for work and dress up a little for leisure – best of both worlds!
