The world has been turned upside down and plans thrown into disarray during the past year. One good thing to come out of this pandemic is that I have had time to sit down and work out exactly what I want to do.
I made a vow to the girls that we would visit lots of new places and we had made a start towards the end of 2019. Of course, 2020 put a halt to all of that! The past few months though I have had the pleasure of enough free time to work out where we wish to visit once lockdown ends.
For me during a break, a hotel or bed and breakfast has never been a huge issue. As long as it has a bed and somewhere to relax after a day of exploring then I am happy. Instead of being tied to one place though I thought what if we went with a motorhome and just took to the road!
Buying a Bailey of Bristol 2 berth motorhome
While looking at motorhomes, I was surprised at how compact they can go. For example, there is a 2 berth option in both the Alliance Silver Edition and Autograph ranges of motorhomes from Bailey of Bristol. If you weren’t aware, a berth is a bed space.
Motorhomes sometimes have a different number of travel seats to berths, so the number of beds does not dictate how many people can travel together. On the Bailey website, the number of travel seats is marked on each model on the berth page by an icon that looks like a person wearing a seatbelt.
When looking at a motorhome, make sure you choose one that has enough berths for your family and enough travel seats to ensure everyone who needs to can travel in the vehicle.
This doesn’t mean that you can’t have additional people stay in the motorhome if there are bed spaces available for them, but they would need to travel separately if there are more people coming on a trip that the motorhome has travel seats for.
Something we’d love to do this summer is visit the Lake District and Yorkshire, once restrictions are lifted and places reopen of course. Having lived in the Lake District between school and college I have a lot of great memories of places such as Windermere, Ambleside and Hawkshead. I want to be able to show the girls where I worked during my time out, show them that there is so much beauty within the UK too.
If you’re planning a trip to the same place as a couple or going with a friend, imagine the fun you could both have zipping around all these beautiful places in a 2 berth Autograph motorhome. This part of the country has so much to see and not being tied to one place means you can see it all.
Durable motorhomes built with Alu-Tech
The current Bailey range is built with Alu-Tech construction and some of the features of the Autograph that drew me to that range include eight flexible layouts for up to six people The easy access through-boot storage in models with an end lounge or end bedroom also gives you somewhere to store all of your outdoor kit.
I love that there is a fully equipped kitchen, with 3-ring gas hob, hot plate, combined oven, grill and hob and a stainless steel sink. Travelling shouldn’t mean spending a fortune eating out all the time and should feel like home. With these additions, we can make a decision to pack up at the last minute and head out without having to worry about finding areas with restaurants/takeaway etc.
Although we are all still currently under lockdown, I was delighted to take a 360º tour of the vehicles in Bailey’s Virtual Showroom, to see which one we liked the most. This is a great feature of their website that lets you digitally walk around Bailey’s vehicles from the socially distanced comfort of your own home. If motorhomes are not your thing, Bailey also manufacture caravans and there is also a Virtual Caravan Showroom too.
If you’re thinking about buying a caravan or motorhome then check out Bailey of Bristol’s News & Events page for holiday inspiration and socially distanced family fun.
