A little while ago I did a blog post all about how we were changing our bad habits and trying to create a healthier lifestyle, well that was just over 7 weeks ago so I thought I should do a little update on how things are going with our Hire Fitness Treadmill!
When I first stepped on the treadmill I thought I would be ok…heck I walk up and down to the school 4 times a day, whats harm can picking up the pace a little do!?
Start off at power walk pace…got this!
I even bought special jogging pants too so I’ve got this covered right?!
Too easy…crank it up to a slight jog..ok, slight sweat at this point but look mum I’m doing it!!
This is where I got too eager…. whack up the power to full which resulted in what resembled a kid heading down a hill – legs going so fast everyone else around pees themselves laughing……by the way it is SO NOT FUNNY when you’re the ones whos legs are going to fall off!
FML!
I thought i was going to die after 94 seconds! That number is etched in my brain!
I realised at this point I was more unfit than I cared to admit! (The shame of having to stop the treadmill and lie on the floor infront of the kids panting like a dog will stay with me forever!)
OK, back to plan A – check out the programmes available and choose something that didn’t seem like a deathwish!
Having chosen to call it a day I started the following day with a gentle programme that was a mix between power walk, run and sprint. Having that small break between each burst of energy seemed to help a lot and although I only managed half the programme first time round I knew things could only get better.
I gradually built up my stamina to complete the whole programme and I am now happy to say after 7 weeks I can do the full programme and have been doing so every 2 days for around 4 weeks. Having looked a couple of other programmes I have to admit I am comfortable with this one and need to push myself out of my comfort zone and try some others.
Let just hope its not a repeat of day one – I still haven’t gotten over the shame of it all!
I will be posting a full 12 week update with weight loss and inch loss but I am pleased to say that so far I am happy with the results!
XOXO
