We shared with you last month how much fun the girls were having with the Gravitrax starter set – the STEM system from Ravensburger which encourages free play and using your imagination in a productive way.
At the same time we were sent two of the expansion packs which are available in smaller kit form once you get to grips with the larger system. We were sent the Catapult and Magnetic Canon. The Catapult obviously fires the ball and the Looping is a great little ‘machine’ that acts like a mini roller coaster to the ball – propelling it on its way! Both were really easy to assemble and need no specialist equipment to either put together or join onto the starter set.
Both are great for when the game is slowing down and you need a little more momentum. Of course the girls just loved firing the balls around the circuit and creating as big a distance as possible between where the ball started and finished! We love that these give us the opportunity to discuss lots of different schooling subjects too, from Amelia using math to count out the pieces we need to science and how much power we need to put behind the pieces to get the ball to reach each stop.
Each add on set brings something else to the table and with prices ranging from £9.99 to £19.99 there really is scope for the occasional treat through to birthday or Christmas presents etc. I think it is great that it can grow with the kids and each pack bringing new possibilities means that the threat of boredom is pretty much non existent. We are yet to run out of ideas for our track, having worked our way through the book it means that the girls have use their imagination and that of course is what we are all about with homeschooling.
We were sent the add on packs for the purpose of the review, all views and opinions are our own and genuine. This post contains affiliate links.
