Do you ever wonder how you survive on such little sleep?! I have been pondering that question all day!
Yesterday was a prime example of what my night times have become. After wrangling all the kids into bed between 8 and 10pm I climbed into bed ready to fall fast asleep…this would have given me 9 hours sleep considering I am up at 7am. Good going!
This of course did not happen though as I have gotten myself into a rather bad habit of having to complete a Sudoku puzzle before I can put the book down, turn off the light and close my eyes!
Obviously some nights I fly through the puzzle and am out like a light…this night, not so much! I dont know if i was distracted or what but the answers just wouldn’t appear and I must have sat for around an hour and a half until something finally clicked and, puzzle complete, I lay back falling asleep before I hit the pillow!
I’m now down to 7 1/2 hours sleep – still not bad!
Forget the random times Little Miss A wakes asking for juice. We still co sleep so are her first port of call for anything in the night.
At 2 am though I hear the muffled words everyone hates at silly o clock… ‘MAM…. mam…..mam…..’
Ethan (12) was standing in the doorway and had woken me up to let me know he couldn’t sleep!
Thanks Son!
I hushed him back to his room and told him just to lie there and he would eventually nod off…just as I would when I crawled back to bed!
2.30 he comes into our room and wakes me up AGAIN after me struggling for the past half hour to dose back off…’mam I still can’t sleep!’
Really son?! Strangely enough neither can I!
Anyways after packing him off with strict instructions not to wake anyone else (mainly me AGAIN!) I tried to fall back asleep….
I saw 3 am, 4 am and 5 am pass in a haze of puzzles and social media posts.
Me: My 9 hours of sleep finally worked out to be 5 very broken hours…
Ethan: Couldn’t remember a thing and looked as fresh as a daisy next morning!
GAH kids!
Do you struggle to get sleep? I swear if it wasn’t for the children I would be able to sleep solidly for around 8 hours or so a night, I follow all of the guidelines – no caffine before bed, window open so theres fresh air circulating, clean sheets and warm duvet…..just thinking about it makes me want to crawl into bed! lol
Did you know that children need 9 – 10 hours of sleep each night whilst babies need 17 hours a day! Adults should aim for 8 hours!
Adjustable Beds Ltd have created an infographic to show how to get the best from your night time routines! I am printing it out and handing them to the kids to read as homework tonight…I will report back tomorrow with how much sleep I get tonight! #SleepExperts

For those who prefer a more traditional home-like experience when on vacation, a timeshare can make sense. If you’ve gotten many years of good use out of your timeshare and now want to get rid of it, a timeshare cancellation company like Timeshare Freedom Group or Lonestar transfer may be able to help.
