How to create meaningful moments of mindfulness using craft supplies you already have at home
As a mum of six who’s been blogging for 17 years, I know first hand how challenging it can be to find quiet moments for ourselves. Between homeschooling, managing the household, creating content, and everything else on our endless to-do lists, self-care often feels like another task we simply don’t have time for.
But what if I told you there’s a way to practice mindfulness that takes just 5 minutes, uses supplies you likely already have, and actually feeds your creative soul rather than draining your energy?
I’ve discovered that combining gratitude practice with simple crafting creates something magical. It’s not just about positive thinking – it’s about engaging your hands while your mind focuses on appreciation. When we’re creating something beautiful, even something small, we naturally slow down and become present.
For those of us who love papercrafts, stamping, and scrapbooking, this approach feels natural rather than forced. We’re not adding another item to our overwhelming schedules; we’re simply being more intentional with activities we already enjoy.

The process: Each morning, before the chaos begins, create one simple gratitude card. Choose something you’re genuinely thankful for – maybe it’s your child’s laugh, a successful recipe that worked perfectly, or even just that first peaceful sip of coffee.

Stamp your chosen design on the cardstock and write your gratitude in one sentence. That’s it. Five minutes, one card, one moment of intentional appreciation.
I love this gratitude practice because it creates a tangible reminder of positivity. Unlike digital gratitude apps that disappear into our phones, these cards become physical tokens of good moments we can hold, display, or revisit on difficult days.

Once a week, I spend 15 minutes creating a small gratitude collage using scraps from previous projects, photos from the week (often outtakes from my recipe photography!), and decorative elements I have on hand.
