Seriously, Durham has our heart and I could not imagine living anywhere else! I can’t even remember how many times we have uttered the words, ‘We are so lucky to live here’!
It was absolutely scorching yesterday and combined with a visit to Durham Street Food Project we parked miles away and walked along the river. What could be better on a hot day than visiting places local and acting like complete tourists?!
Camera out and no plans as such we set off along the river bank just knowing that we would eventually head up toward the town centre and the food project. (Seriously, support local business, its something I am hugely passionate about!)
The views were spectacular and the children were in awe of the cathedral and the work being carried out. (Schedule visit to the cathedral…tick!) They got to see boats and rowers on the river, teams of girls with row boats carrying them out and practising – seriously in awe!
We walked past this divine house that looked completely ramshackled, the kids were saying how fabulous it would be to live there, throwing the windows open on a morning and looking out on the river and ducks! Look at the view, is that not worth living in a wreck for!
*sigh* I could sit on a bench beside this river all day! There are so many tourists and you hear so many different languages it is an ideal opportunity for a people watcher like myself to spend hours just enjoying life… and believe me, life is out there to be enjoyed – housework can wait!
XOXO

We recently went to Durham as I couldn’t remember the last time I’d went. The river is lovely to walk alongside and the cathedral was really impressive, love all the stained glass! The Durham Food Project would have been good to visit, it looks like it was nice weather for it 🙂
