I have written in the past about how we try to be eco friendly and more environmentally conscious. Buying items that are not un necessarily packaged or can be refilled.
When we were contacted to work with Counter Culture on their #JustOneSwitch campaign I knew this was the opportunity to try new products and make the move to bar shampoo and conditioner at the same time.
The great thing I found with Counter Culture is that their website has nothing but ‘beauty with a conscience’ products. Meaning no matter what you choose you can rest assured that you are doing your bit for the environment and making an impact. Boutique brands are highlighted and in particular female founders are able to flourish!
We were sent products that could help us with trying the curly girl method which is something I have looked at before but the price and length of items you use is silly. Using natural bar shampoo is one step we could take which helps the environment and cuts back completely on checmicals.
The shampoo bars we have used in the past have fallen short on results so to be honest we kind of expected the same. Little lather and hair that needed washing within a day or two. Using the Rowdy Kind shampoo bars was a complete different experience. The scent was beautiful, not too strong and you could tell there were no chemicals or nasties contained as I got it in my eyes and it didn’t sting.
Using a wide tooth comb is high on the list of things to do during the curly girl method while in the shower and I found that this one from Counter Culture was by far the best I have used. Easy to hold and with the help of the Starest Nourishing Hair Butter my waist length hair didn’t stand a chance!
Since using this high butter content conditioner my scalp has been less itchy too. Containing only natural ingredients (100% natural and 96% organic) its good to know I am not only helping the environment but doing myself a favour at the same time.
The girls love the novelty too of using bars instead of wasting masses of shampoo and conditioner! There is a tin to keep them in between uses which helps not end up with a sticky mess on the side of the bath or shower tray too.
These products will help with our shopping bill too. The girls always go through half a bottle of shampoo and conditioner each bath time thanks to wanting to make bubbles and ‘potions’. I will most definitely be making further purchases from Counter Culture in the future. Highly recommended.
