We seem to be developing a whole lot of love of BigJigs railways here and this has been compounded by the fact that we just received these super cute pieces from the Fairy Village collection!
I really don’t know who has more fun during the set up and to be honest I think its me as the girls are more than happy to leave me alone while I set up certain play stations and tracks for them. Evie is a very girly girl so to see her playing with this set makes me smile too, she loves making up stories as the train goes around the tracks and we get to find out who lives where in Fairyville.
This set just goes to show that trains are not just for boys (not that we ever have that rule anyway) but girls love playing with them just as much so its nice to see something a little pink and girly too. Although we have lots of blue and brown trains we are yet to have any bright coloured ones so Evie in particular was excited to see a totally pink Princess Train (rrp: £15.99) with interchangeable carriage tops. Again it was nice to see the train made out of wood too as we much prefer wooden toys to metal or plastic – it gives that tactile feeling of quality!
We have lots of the railway stations and bridges etc so it was a nice change to have some accessories to dot around the track and make it a little more interactive.
The girls expecially love the Pixie Dust Treehouse (rrp: £17.99) which has a little pixie dust roll that travels down the tracks and falls into the carriage waiting underneath the treehouse. As with all BigJigs toys it is made of sturdy wood and connects to most railway tracks including Brio etc.
The 32 piece accessory pack (rrp: £22.99) is so sweet and includes 4 wooden lilac and pink trees, 2 white unicorns and 2 grey unicorns, a heli pad and helicopter, 6 fairies, 2 cars, a stop sign, street light, 4 houses, 2 apple trees and 2 toadstools.
On our journey around the track we have the chance now to go through the Flower Garden, you enter under the pink floral tunnel and can take in the beautiful scenery of the flower gardens before travelling back under another pink floral tunnel and on your way. The tunnels are perfect height for all the train track vehicles and we have even connected it up to our existing railways and the trains pass no problem. (rrp: £19.99)
I speak for both myself and the girls when I say that we can’t wait to get more accessories and add ons for our railways, it really does bring us all together to play for hours! Amelia is even wanting to design some of her own pieces which is fabulous and I love that it is bringing out a creative side in her too!
Bigjigs toys, trains and accessories are available online from all good toy stores.
XOXO
Debbie
