The kids seem to be growing at an overwhelming speed and I really cant believe we don’t have a baby any more.
I am incorporating this post into a new linky which is Living Arrows with What the Redhead Said. I have read her blog for a long time and the hole ethos behind the Living arrows is to post 2 pictures weekly of how the kids are getting on etc. Living Arrows is about celebrating childhood. The project originally took it’s name from a poem by Kahlil Gibran,“You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth” . My post this week is obviously a little longer as its my first one joining in and I am incorporating the past couple of weeks.
Amelia is turning into a very independent, fierce little lady who knows what she wants and knows how to get it! Her hair is getting redder by the day and she certainly has the fiery temperament that supposedly comes with being a redhead (she certainly reinforces that stereotype!!)
She will not walk anywhere and always wants to be carried – I’m talking INDOORS here! If you leave a room she HAS to go with you and constantly wants to know what you’re up to!
Boxes and bubble wrap are a favourite at the minute as she has realised she is now heavy enough to jump and actually pop the bubbles! She loves hiding in boxes or grabbing pens and completely defacing them – at least its not on the walls any more!
When daddy leaves for work she loves kisses and has the perfect little (actually its huge!) pout and has just learned how to blow kisses too so that’s a new favourite too! Also waiting at the window for daddy to come home, she gets all excited and runs to the front door waiting for him to come in and smother him with kisses. Its lovely to see such an excitement in her eyes.
Evie is almost 6 and becoming a real little mother, she is still a diva in training so you have to be careful which mood she wakes up in! Since cutting her hair she is having an easier time less knots and tangles – seriously this kid can sit still and within 5 minutes her hair looks like a nest! I think we may keep it that little bit shorter as it was touching her butt and was a total nightmare to look after – now its half way up her back and seems so much easier to control! If anyone remembers her when she was little we should have known what it would be like as it was always the first thing people mentioned when we were out! lol
She is loving her own room and cant wait to decorate it how she wants, we need to make sure our lease is being renewed then we will make a start on changing things a little. Pinks and butterflies are still her favourite and she is a huge make up and nail varnish fan so has her little dressing table lined with her lipsticks, perfume and varnishes. It’s so cute that when I baked cupcakes the other day and had my red lippy on she disappeared upstairs and came down with some on too (…she even went to top it up half way though the baking session!)
Thanks to a recent mummy blog post (I cant remember where it was but if I come across it I will come back and link up!) we have discovered Melissa and Doug products and I think this could be the best find ever! Evie loves everything creative and when we got the cake decorating book she was so excited, now we are looking at the rest of the items and since both girls birthdays are coming up soon I’m sure there will be some Melissa and Doug items on their lists!
She has been poorly this past couple of days so has been stuck in bed with her books for company. Thankfully she is coming along well with her reading and loves her scratch and sniff books which smell of strawberry cupcakes – who doesn’t love scratch and sniff!
Ethan had a visit to the dentist last week thanks to a broken tooth which was causing all kinds of problems, thankfully he was really brave and since it was still one of his baby teeth they just whipped it straight out. I thought he might have freaked out a little but it shows how far he has come since we moved as he just sucked it up and was fine. To be honest this house move was the best thing that could have happened as he is becoming a lot more independent, going out with his friends to play football at the park and cant wait for summer when he can spend more time outdoors etc. He also visits the local youth centre which we never had in our old village so its nice to see him spending time with kids his own age instead of all his spare time on the x-box.
I shall only be keeping a journal of how our youngest 3 are doing since the elder ones are ….erm…. less co-operative shall we say!
Jacob doesn’t like his picture taken so is a nightmare to photograph lately, when I do finally get him in front of the camera he pulls the silliest of faces and just hates all the pictures so as requested I wont be sharing his photo! As you can probably tell, Jake hits 13 this month and is becoming a typical teenager! Being a good mummy I have promised to acknowledge the fact he is growing up and wont be documenting his escapades – oh the joys of boys!
Scott and Ben are respectively almost 18 and 20 so are living their own lives with girlfriends and nights out etc so I shall leave them to cause havoc without the worry that it will all be shown for public viewing…..however when Bens girlfriend Lauren has the baby in August I shall become a doting grandma and, with permission, share lots of baby pictures again!

Ah every child goes mad for boxes and bubble wrap don’t they!
We love bubble wrap too. Her hair is a beautiful colour. #livingarrows
