I have found love and its in the form of pretty lights!
For a while now there has been a trend to have these light up letters or words in our homes. Everyone is selling them, from high street stores to top end designers, all vying to be the one on your wall or sideboard! Yes, they are fabulous but a lot of them come with a hefty price tag too – are you really going to use it enough and not get bored before that £300+ sting goes away?! No?! Me either!
Well move over expensive work of art and hello Heidi Swapp!
Heidi is a scrap booking, arty wonder who supplies the world with all kinds of pretty goodies and much to my delight she has brought out a range called Marquee! The Marquee range is going to be in huge demand as it contains some pretty awesome pieces including these fabulous light up letters and shapes, A-Z, 0-9, heart, star and so much more!
I mentioned this to my lovely hubby and look what turned up the next day! (I love that man!)
Evie immediately claimed it for her room and wanted pink glitter stripes and black and white! We have a whole monochrome thing going on right now with pink highlights so she is loving all the little girly glitter accents.
This picture is null and void now because this is how I wanted to decorate it before Evie got her eye on it….
I love the fact that the inside of the shape/letter has a template so that you can cut papers to size and pop them back out to switch it around should your decor change!
My hands are not steady enough to create glitter stripes so I used glitter washi tape – love this stuff! There are so many different kinds and its not super sticky either which means when you come to change it around its not going to rip the outer to pieces.
Once the template is sorted, use a hole pricker or sharp pencil to ‘punch’ through the holes for the bulbs. Push through gently so as not to bend the cardboard frame.
Flip over and now insert the ‘fairy’ lights. The little battery compartment is the same depth as the frame work so tucks neatly inside so that the whole piece will lie or sit flush against a wall or table.
Little hands always want to join in and its lovely when you turn the lights on and get the satisfactory ‘oooh’!
Evie has claimed this one for her room…
…but I think it looks just as pretty without the glitter… Hmmm I can see a lot more of these in our home!
I am now coveting the Heidi Swapp Light Up Box – don’t Google it… don’t drool over it and don’t blame me when it falls into a basket and checks its self out…because it will!
XOXO
Debbie
